Mueller says BuzzFeed article "inaccurate"

Re: Peter Carr responds to BuzzFeed's article

Dead on. How many times do you hear - "We can't confirm, but we believe..." or, "This is subject to change as more information comes available, but at this time we are reporting that..."

I do find it odd however that the Mueller team waited 22 hours to make this statement though.

Mueller's office disputes Buzzfeed story on Michael Cohen

That didn't take as long as I thought it would...I figured it would come out when the ADMITTED, CONVICTED LIAR, COHEN, was in front of Congress.

EVEN THE WITCH HUNT CONCEDES THAT COHEN IS LYING.

Just like Stormy/Mouthenatti/Manafort/ Papadopolous/ Carter Page...etc., etc.. AD NAUSEUM.

Mueller's office disputes Buzzfeed story on Michael Cohen

WASHINGTON, Jan 18 (Reuters) - U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office issued a statement late on Friday taking issue with a report in Buzzfeed that President Donald Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen said Trump told him to lie to Congress.

I heard it on CNN. It should be in print in minutes.

Delay the impeachment party. Trump cultist can sleep well for now.

With BS like this popping up on a weekly basis no real Americans lose sleep. In fact no one has really been worried since day one. It's always been obvious that the entire "Russia" BS is nothing more than the Losers playing dirty.

What this does say is that the House does have to INVESTIGATE. That is ITS job. It should not be railing about Mueller doing its job for it and specific Congressmen need to shut up and do their jobs.

I learned that the House can't really enforce subpoenas without the DOJ.

Re: Peter Carr responds to BuzzFeed's article

They's a lot of people out there gonna be eating a lot o' crow over this!
Not me.

I warned everyone to be careful about these backwater media outlets.

I'm surprised they said anything at all.

It appears to me that the only reason I can think of for them making this statement, is they saw the media and the Democrats in the House stocking the steam in the Impeachment train with every intention to move it out of the station and down the tracks as quickly as possible, based on this article's accusations. I think they waited that long because it took them that long to see where the Democrats and the House were actually headed, based solely on this article.

If so, to their credit, they stopped a very tragic event from occurring that could and probably would have torn the country apart when it eventually became public that it was all inaccurate reporting. If Mueller's eventual report did in fact have evidence of wrongdoing on the part of the President contained within it, and this had been allowed to be the root cause of Articles of Impeachment, the legitimacy of the Democrats in the House and the Impeachment process as a whole would have lost any and all legitimacy with the everyone except the hard core believers.

It would have torn the country apart.

Re: Peter Carr responds to BuzzFeed's article

The truly sad part for me, is that truth and accuracy no longer matter, for either side. BuzzFeed will not be the only "media" outlet that takes a hit over this one - I hope.

As much as CNN and MSNBC go on about how horrible it is that Trump talks about "Fake News" they really ran with this one. Yeah, they never said it was confirmed but every hour they got more and more giddy.

That is even more of an overreach going one way than the Buzzfeed piece was going the other way. However you are a poster at a web site and they are a news media outlet.

Did Buzzfeed reach a long way or just a little bit? Who knows and Mueller is not going to help them figure it out. I am less worried about what Buzzfeed did and more worried about:
A) FBI agents either previously part of the Mueller Investigative team or read into the case acting as sources for Buzzfeed.
B) Congressmen running off at the mouth half cocked

If I were an erstwhile reporter rummaging around, I might check for FBI agents that have been detached from the case. Mueller has been stripping back his staff for three weeks now. I would also check the records for Agents that are either furloughed in this shutdown mess or who have actually submitted resignations having decided to call it a career.

That backwater has flooded the "higher ground" when it comes to the media reporting on Trump. CNN has had federal prosecutors and as many other experts as they can pay to talk about how this is the smoking gun to end the Trump Presidency, all day. I haven't watched MSNBC, but I can imagine it hasn't been much different.

I just wanted to beat the Gork to it. He's going to love this. lol

Already had it. Not much of a revelation that an ADMITTED/CONVICTED SERIAL LIAR IS LYING...except, of course to the Desperate TDS Left....

Same as MANAFORT/Carter Page/Papadopolus/Stormy/ Mouthenatti...etc., ad nauseum...who were all going to "bring down Trump".

down in flames.webp

Buzzfeed Cohen story "not accurate"; says FBI spokesman.

Oh no!...more fake news generated by the media, using "unnamed sources". Will all the reporting be retracted? Maybe. The real issue here is that it doesn't matter if it's retracted or not. The retraction won't reach the same number as the original postings, and for those that do see it, it doesn't matter to them because truth doesn't matter. They'll still stick to their narrative on this, regardless that the narratives are build on a foundation of lies and half-truths.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's office pushed back on a "bombshell" report published by BuzzFeed News on Thursday, describing elements of the report as "not accurate."

In a statement to BuzzFeed News, a spokesperson for special counsel Robert Mueller's office wrote:

BuzzFeed's description of specific statements to the Special Counsel's Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen's Congressional testimony are not accurate."

Re: Peter Carr responds to BuzzFeed's article

As much as CNN and MSNBC go on about how horrible it is that Trump talks about "Fake News" they really ran with this one. Yeah, they never said it was confirmed but every hour they got more and more giddy.

I shut off CNN when they had a panel full of retired DOJ prosecutors (all of which had been fired by Trump) laying out the "facts" for Impeachment and Indictment, Conviction, and the length of the Jail term for Trump, based solely on this article.

So now Cable News Talking heads claiming Mueller is "not doing enough to help news media report accurately". That is not Mueller's job!

Media morons. Mueller is running an investigation. That requires certain degrees of confidentiality.

Buzzfeed gave the Special Counsel's office an opportunity to comment before they ran the piece. The Special Counsel's office offered a "no comment" and Buzzfeed ran the piece anyway.

"We aren't sure it's accurate? Oh well! Run that baby!"

Report: Victim was shot with a Ruger 9MM.

Police: Not accurate, it was a Walther 9MM.

Report must be fake news!

nvm....delete...other threads started.

Further from Buzzfeed, "We urge the Special Counsel to be specific about what he is disputing".

Good luck with that Buzzfeed moron. That is the oldest trick in the book. Get Investigators responding back to you in a never ending string of quires and back and forth disclaimers.

IMO.....not going to happen Buzzfeed.

I don't.

There were lots of leaks over the last 1 1/2 years, many of them were supposed to be THE smoking gun. But then the gun just fizzled out and Mueller & Co were probably just grinning and never responded.
This time, however, the dems in the senate were gearing up to use this buzzfeed article as basis to start impeachment ... and I guess Mueller & Co don't have enough **** for impeachment.

Looks like Mueller saved the dems from a colossal embarrassment. (grin)

This is the part where we stop digging.

The report is obviously false in its central allegations, or else the SC wouldn't have felt the need to correct it.

Exactly my reasoning ... except that your English is better than mine and your explanation is more "expanded" than mine. :)

Yeah...I was all like "hell yeah!" even though I thought "Buzzfeed". But when one of the authors came on CNN and said he had not seen the corroborating evidence, I knew it was time to doubt the story.

Can I imagine Trump would have done this? Without a single doubt. But we need real evidence, and Buzzfeed failed. The story can still be mostly true, but Buzzfeed ****ed up.

No, man, the story is obviously bull****.

There's no way Mueller would be sitting on a bombshell like that for months, without informing Congress of the revelation in person, just as Starr did once he had Clinton dead to rights.

The fact that whoever the source was went to Buzzfeed and not the NYT or Washington Post, should have been a red flag to everyone.

Mueller is a Special Counsel while Starr was an Independent Counsel. They are not the same thing. They don't have the same authorities nor do they have the same elbow room.

We got rid of the Independent Counsel law at its sunset when "we" decided not to renew it. Frankly I have always thought that a bad idea. But you could make the case either way.

I am willing to believe the story is complete bull**** or mostly true. I have no idea.

However, I disagree that this would have been something urgent to reveal to Congress. What danger is there in this whole scenario? Is national security at risk in this? No.
