Cults? Would you call those who support or approve of any president in very high numbers a cult or is that just for Trump and his supporters? Let's take a look at the approval percentage of the last few presidents of only those in the presidents party.

Trump has ranged from 79% to 88% approval rating from Republican throughout his presidency.
Obama among Democrats only ranged from 79% to 95% approval for his entire 8 years. Obama has been a higher among Democrats than Trump has been among Republicans. Were Democrats a cult for supporting Obama as roughly in the same percentages as Republicans support Trump?
G.W. Bush, he had a large range in his approval ratings among Republicans, from a low of 55% to a high of 98%. With that 43 point range, one can say there was no cult for G.W.
Bill Clinton, he ranged from 63% to 92% among Democrats only for his two terms. A 29 point range is too wide for a cult.
G.H.W. Bush, among Republicans only for his four years 57% to 97%, a 40 point range is again too wide for a cult.
Reagan,67% to 97% among Republicans, 30 point range and again too wide for a cult.
Carter, he's a strange one. He ranged among Democrats from 34% to 84%. That's a 50 point range among folks of his own party. No cult with Jimmy.

I'll stop there. It's fairly easy to see if one wants to call unwavering support or even avid support for a president from one's own party faithful, both Obama and Trump supporters qualify. I think over the last ten or so years we've become much more polarized and partisan. Before Obama, even one in the party of the president would admit he did something wrong and disapprove of him when he did so. Not since Obama have most party members been willing to admit that or even disapprove of something a president of their party has done, no matter how wrong.

Perhaps we have moved into an era of cults when it comes to presidents. At least of presidents of one's own party.

Hillary is why my husband voted for Trump.

He was a Never Trump, but he was a Never Hillary more and he wouldn't vote third party and he wouldn't not vote.
