I know enough about hurricanes to know that every time we get one lefties ramp it up as a global warming monster. In this case a cat5 went to a cat2. Next we are waiting to see when the 100ft wall of water hits. I think I saw that in a b movie once.

I did the search, which is why I know you're lying. I couldn't find ANY "station" that predicted a CAT 5 landfall. If you want to provide several links to prove the point, the floor is yours. You have Google - do the search and give us the results.

As to what you know about hurricanes, it could fit in a thimble, for a miniature doll, which is why you're lying about anyone predicting 100 foot walls of water. That's just false, made up, fabricated nonsense. If you have a link to prove your point, show it.

No, an orderly evacuation over several days is the opposite of a panic - that's what sensible people do, be cautious, assume the worst given the information available, issue warnings, and get people out of harms way well ahead of the storm.

Panic would be the people who sit around all week, and after they find out it's going to flood their home, all hit the roads at the same time and are stuck in traffic, and die from floodwaters.

Here's a little science for you:

Very strong hurricanes can actually weaken themselves with the strongest winds by pulling up deeper colder water which actually works against them.

We should put you in the landfall area and see what you think of what a lack of a big deal this storm is, and it's the rain that is the biggie with this storm. Potentially 40 inches of rain is nothing to sneeze at.

A cat5 was predicted on nearly every station on monday, even citing the reason as it goes over the warmer water it will increase in intensity, they even showed the eyewall how it would grow. Yeah, storm surges possible up to 10 feet along much of the NC coast, and feet of rain are nothing. Prolly OK to stay at home and wait it out.

That's not true. I looked and couldn't find anyone legitimate (as opposed to whatever the hell 'globalnews.ca' is) doing more than speculating on the worst possible case scenario, which WHEN the storm was cat 4 that it could strengthen some, then winds weaken as it neared land.

The actual experts don't predict days in advance what it will be at landfall - it's all about probabilities

The cost of hurricane damage increasing is not a function of the severity of the storm, but rather of the change in structures in the path. Nags Head, as an example, 50 years ago was developed with 500 ft 1 level cottages on relatively large sites.Today million + dollar multi level structures are the norm.
