Michael Flynn will invoke Fifth Amendment

We wondered the same thing about Lois Learner but never got an answer from liberals

Don't just limit it to Lois Lerner.

A ton of people surrounding Hillary took the fifth.

Honestly all I had to go on was the evidence.

There was plenty.

Evidence: IRS & DOJ Plot against Conservative Groups

Evidence Archive Obama IRS Scandal

Just the bolo itself is obvious political targeting.

"Critical of the way the country was being run"

Ouch.

I wonder why Obama wasn't impeached for obstruction of justice when he publicly said there was not a scintilla of evidence of guilt with Lois Lerner.

Just ah... Just going to leave this here.

And if poor Lois was just apologizing for a few " front line " employees who were just trying to make the IRS the pinnacle of efficency, then why would she need to plead the fifth.

God, this entire administration stinks from every angle. We are just getting a glimpse of it now.

How's that transparency working for Obama?

You aren't missing anything. They've conveniently forgotten certain things that are inconvenient to their narrative.

She's taking the fifth because Obama doesn't want to be named, and she doesn't want to lie. Pull your head out of the sand, Ostrich Boy.

More than "legal jeopardy" - the Fifth protects from self-incrimination. She's worried she'll be found guilty of doing something not just illegal (e.g. ethical conduct), but criminal.

Imagine, the most powerful and potentially dangerous government agency in the United States, is caught applying their power selectively and politically, and one of its commanders pleads the 5th as the Executive Branch runs for cover and cries "nothing to see here".

Stunning.

Ask Lois Lerner. She pleaded the 5th for a reason, I'm thinking.

How many people do you know who have invoked the 5th Amendment during a congressional investigation that were free of wrongdoing?

I don't think that is going to happen as long as they continue to play dumb, or have people involved in the scandal taking the 5th.

Just ah... Just going to leave this here.

There is something very twisted behind the effort to search for, and then post, a comment from 4 years ago regarding the actions of an official behind the IRS scandal, and trying to sell it off as equivalent to the issue being discussed here.

Who said I gave him any credence? I'm simply pointing out a bit of delicious irony.
You mean like the irony of so many of you that said precisely dick about members of the Obama administration pleading the fifth suddenly caring about it?

Flynn is being fitted for a cross. Both sides will ultimately use him as their end game for this whole "Russia/Collusion" thing. They need a body...it will be Flynn. And when it is all said and done, both sides will point to Flynn as a victory.

Liberals are free to go ahead and assume the worst about flynn and trump juat as we did about Lois Learner and the Obama IRS
You should not the difference between 'liberals' and 'leftists'. The guy you are responding to is a liberal and pointing out TO liberals they sound kinda silly. Which makes you sound kinda silly.

Why would you give any credence to what Trump says about US law?

More power for you for continuing to attempt to post. This kind of stuff is why I've largely stopped trying. So much of any issue can be boiled down to this:

1. A bunch of liberal posters pointing to some stupid stance or statement Trump/Republicans said under Obama and ridiculing them for now doing that very thing, while tacitly or directly suggesting the very same or similar condemnation that they previously were credulous to see levied.

2. A bunch of Trump supporters desperately trying to wave off and excuse the idiocy of the old statements or stances by suggesting that "this is difference", without understanding that often the difference is really ultimately superficial or amounts to "this time it aligns to what I politically agree with" AND that the fact it can be "different" highlights why the often absolute initial statement (which Trump is prone to use) is so ****ing stupid.

Wow, Michael Flynn isn't going to throw himself under the bus and an investigation into someone with ties to potential wrong doing in the government is unlikely to be resolved quickly and neatly in a matter of months. Color me as shocked, surprised, and amazed. Clearly he is actually guilty! and/or Clearly he is in no way guilty and is just prudently using his constitutional rights!

Fun.

He will be placed under immunity, with or without his agreement, which means he has to answer because the testimony cannot be used against in a court of law.

So you are pasting my reply from an entirely different subject/thread into this thread about a different subject to give the false and misleading impression that using the IRS as a weapon against the Tea Party is the same as Flynn taking the 5th? Just wanted to expose that for all to see. Carry on.

Lois Lerner and a major scandal regarding the almighty IRS, and searching back 4 years to try and use a response to her actions as a means of demonstrating hypocrisy on this issue.

There is something quite revealing about the effort, and the intent....

Of what? Do you have a ****ing point?

I think it's just documenting the flip-flop in arguments when the D turns to an R.

Just ah... Just going to leave this here.

I dont remember ever defending Flynn, besiides how does Flynn taking the 5th substantiate the Lefts conspiracy drivel that Trump colluded with the Russians ?

Lerner actually admitted that the IRS was targeting Conservitive Americans disproportionately, then she apologized and then blamed it on nameless faceless front line IRS agents.

She was a liar and hopefully Sessions will pick up where Obama's corrupt DOJ left off when it refused to indict her

Yep.

Somehow amongst the partisan hoopla, this got missed.

Excellent point.

1. Invoking the 5th is a standard precaution, so whatever.

2. Trump is still a massive hypocrite, along with everyone else who made noises about people taking the 5th while Obama was President.

And contrary to what some are claiming, pointing out #2 is not an automatically an endorsement of the notion that Flynn must be guilty because he invoked the 5th.

Former US NSA pleads the fifth. Gotta love Republicans.

He must take the 5th, you know that? I guess not. What would you think if he had a lawyer that advised him to go ahead, start talking? Would you want to use a lawyer like that? Think that's a good lawyer?
