Been tried. It doesn't work.

Legalize everything, and the Cartels and all the corruption goes away practically overnight.

Being 'tough' is idiotic when dealing with substances.

Nope. They produce drugs that are to be used for their intended purpose. It is not their fault people sell it illegally.

The broader problem is the demand. You can jail all the cartel members operating now and someone else will fill the void if there's a lot of money to be made. The "war on drugs" has increased the amount of people in jail, but ineffective at dealing with the addicts that are the source of the problem.

It's not just that though. Over the years we've seen an increase in the amount of drugs to deal with all sorts of behavioral issues, so there's a reliance on mood altering drugs. For the pharmaceutical industry it's a win-win.

What else would you expect? Its all about supply and demand. Americans are demanding the product and Mexicans are supplying it. Isn't that how business is supposed to work?

My point was that Mexicans and most drugs wouldn't be in this country if we didn't have the massive demand for them.

Surely not so obvious, since all we hear about are the Mexican and South American bad guys, how terrible the drug cartels are, well folks, its our fault. Look nowhere else but in the mirror.
