#MeToo movement lawmaker investigated for sexual misconduct allegations

I'm not adopting anything. I'm saying for the record that I have neither been marginalized nor weakened by the people in the #MeToo movement.

Now again, which women were you speaking on behalf of?

I don't wear a burka. I'm not sure what your burka obsession is all about. I don't even have to wear one when I'm in the Middle East on business. Even as a tall blonde American woman they don't make me wear one.

Now, please stop going off topic about burkas and tell me which women you were speaking on behalf of if it isn't you. You're certainly not speaking for any women I know. Maybe some of the other female posters on here now feel weak and marginalized. Let's see who they are - I'm sure you can convince them to share their concerns with us.

"Women in general," and don't think by telling tall tales that you're going to impress me.

So you're speaking for billions of women "in general"?

Tall tales? I've posted my picture on here. And I've posted for 5 years about the fact that I travel all over the world for my job.

I'm not weak and I'm not marginalized because of women in Hollywood and Washington and other places calling out their harassers. I also don't know anyone who is. But maybe some of the women on here will tell us how they are weakened and marginalized since you won't tell us how you have been, or why.

Sexual harassment or drunken sexual promiscuity? May be the woman just can't hold her liquor.

Seriously? So if a drunk guy gets sexually suggestive and aggressive he gets a pass too?

Here's the deal, everyone makes a bad decision from time to time and alcohol increases the odds of someone making a bad decision. Maybe the decision is related to sex but that doesn't necessarily mean that the "assailant" is a sexual predator. Unfortunately, as of late pretty much any unwanted sexual advance has, through movements such as #metoo, been portrayed as predatory and indicative of a culture of sexual aggression and sexual assault.

Howie is basking in all the female attention............

Nope. Check out major media sources.

Major media is reporting male backlash against the movement. This was predictable, but it doesn't mean the movement is floundering. In fact, it is growing, with movements popping up all over the globe. Check out major media sources.

Don't get me wrong and get argumentative. I think we should make distinctions. Lets say a woman finds you sexy at a party and gets a bit touchy with you. Do you think that is in the same category as a Weinstein using his power and influence to elicit sexual favors?
Unwanted? Yes.

Do you see the irony here?

Trump said some women let him grab a certain body part and he is labeled an attacker.

This woman actually tried to do it on two occasions and she is just maybe drunk.

I'm not talking about male backlash. Im talking about women -- like the COO of Facebook.

Look -- if you want to make points with me -- don't start posting about things you can't verify. It's pointless. If your argument isn't strong enough -- so be it -- don't artificially try to bolster it. It doesn't work. You don't have a clue who I am and I'm not going to try and use my real (or a contrived) persona to bolster an argument.

When someone starts doing that -- I typically just tune them out. None of that matter one whit to a discussion.

Start with the COO of Facebook as I mentioned just a minute ago and you'll find out how women are being weakened and marginalized.

Unwanted? Yes.

That's the point. Populist movements often create a public mania where instances of mistreatment are severely exaggerated.

I'm asking you to share with me why you feel marginalized and weakened by the #MeToo movement. Why are you having a hard time answering that? Unless you're the COO of Facebook, she hasn't got anything to do with you.

Why are you weakened and marginalized because of what happened to people like Rose McGowan and Ashley Judd?

Except in this case, the guy is trying for political points because of who the woman is. Like I said, it might just be apples and oranges.

Yeah, how dare women complain about being sexually assaulted and harassed. They should stop being whiny little babies.

Are you saying Garcia is guilty?

Unwanted? Yes.

That's a double standard.

So all the guys that have been accused are a bunch of sluts too?

Instead of the typical blame the victim now that the victim is male the abuser is a slut. Go figure.

I've never blamed the victim. Stop lying.

Keep wondering, bud, nothing has imploded... If you actually gave some thought, and cared about being something other than, well, an apdst, you'd see that this opens the conversation up for men who have had to deal with sexual harassment coming from women, but could do nothing about it due to gender roles as rigid as has kept women suffering through the same, make it a true #MeToo that doesn't exclude the experience of men....something you MRA types have been whining about every time a "women only" movement arises.

Instead you confirm the stereotype and the reason behind the movement, by calling her a slut, and using one person to invalidate a movement, making it all that much easier for women to ignore this whole episode. Good work, champ. You're a real hero.

So, a woman who gets drunk, sexually assaults a subordinate isn't a slut? Sounds pretty slutty to me

Why am I not surprised to see people defending sexual assault, because the accused is a female (a democrat female)?

I've never blamed the victim. Stop lying.

So there is absolutely no evidence this woman, whom you called a slut, did this but you are ready to take someone's word as evidence. Guess you don't think witch hunts have to end when it's going after the certain people.

There's no evidence. At some point, the witch hunt has to end.

The victims are lying? :lamo

This is good stuff! It really is!

That's your opinion.

I don't think guys who get drunk and grabs someone is just a "slut", like this women they would be abusing their power and assaulting someone.

But you are focusing on trying to prove someone is defending sexual assault because it's a woman by selling out your own belief we should have evidence instead of starting witch hunts. You think a witch hunt against a woman is okay because the accused is a man.

Like I said, NOW you don't need evidence just someone's word when before you needed more than someone's words.

I always take the victims words into consideration, you were the one who wanted more.

Thanks for the sig. It needed to be freshened up.

Whatever. I'll remember this next time the script is flipped and you says it's a witch hunt because the woman accusing the man needs more than her word that it happened.

This just shows what a huge hypocrite you are.

In apdst's world:

Accuser is a man saying it happened = instantly believed and the woman is a slut

Accuser is a woman saying it happened = need evidence and it's just a witch hunt.

Lots of worthwhile movements and causes get hijacked. It doesn’t lessen the value of the original movement or cause. You just have to have the presence of mind to treat each instance on its own merits rather than what hashtag is attached to it.

It turns out one of #metoo's biggest voices turns out to be a real slut. I wondered when the #metoo thing would implode.

She's guilty! She has to be because she was accused.
