Measles and Morons

Most Latinos are religious, anti-abortionists. Why can't the Republicans recruit them? Oh, I know. It's because the GOP is too busy appealing to racists.

Thanks for importing all these diseases.

Think of it this way. You were vaccinated and you dutifully vaccinated your kids so you have nothing to worry about. On top of that, all the anti-vaxers and religious nuts you hate so much are going to die horrible deaths so, bottom line, you should be happy!

Well, what they're worried about, is that most of the victims are most likely Democrat voters.

lol...ya didn't read the op. Didja?

Measles has reappeared, particularly in close-knit and religious communities, and its rise trails growing anti-vaccination sentiments among Americans.

Does that sound like Democrats to you?

Science deniers, there's a reason the rest of us despise them. They are a ****ing danger to society.

Measles rate soars again: Now more than 700 cases in 22 states, CDC reveals

We've become the land of idiots.

A friend of mine's daughter went into anaphylactic shock immediately after a vaccination ( the one for women )
and she started ahving seizures, which, a year later, continue.

Yes, the odds of being harmed by a vaccine are slim, but to shame a person from not getting a vaccine isn't fair, either.

There are THOUSANDS of published examples of this type of thing, on YouTube, and elsewhere.

THe vaccine court has awarded 3.5 ( or so ) billion dollars to vaccine injured children.
There is a whole legal industry, vaccine lawyers, on this subject. It begs the question -- why do vaccine lawyers exist when proving a vaccine caused an injury is not an easy thing to do.

Yes, they are a small minority, but it proves one thing, incontrovertibly, there is a risk. Even if small, you can't shame someone for not wanting to take a risk ( in my view )

In fact, history is replete with outbreaks in highly vaccinated populations.

If there were an epidemic in my area, I would go to the doctor and have a blood test to see if I'm still immune, and if I was not, I would get the vax, so don't accuse me of being anti-vax, but I don't go around shaming others for there health choices.

We shouldn't have let all those illegals into the country. But, you people want open borders, so you can import more Democrat voters.

Right, because measles didn't ever exist in the population before illegals came to America. What a stunningly stupid argument.

Better stop all international flights then; who knows what might be lurking on that flight from the Congo...
In 1920 there were 500,000 reported instances of measles in the US. 1960 there were nearly 500,000 cases of measles diagnosed in America, with almost 500 resultant deaths. How many do you think were due to illegal immigration? I wonder if it might have been the white man who first introduced it. Like smallpox and influenza.

Let's see how well apdst did in defending his claim. Spoiler alert: he fails.

From his last source:

There have been 236 reported cases of mumps, with another 16 suspected cases during this time period.

Mumps is a contagious virus that is typically spread through saliva and mucus. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, loss of appetite and puffiness around the cheeks and jaw from swollen salivary glands.
Last year, there were 423 people documented with influenza and 461 people with chickenpox in ICE custody, according to the agency.

Hrmm, so no mention of measles. Maybe a later source...

From the second source:

Health officials on Saturday confirmed seven mumps cases at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Houston.

Odd, still no measles...

From the first source, the kick to the nuts for his own argument:

A spokesperson for the Washington state Department of Health confirmed to ABC News that the strain in Washington's outbreak matches the strain that is involved in an ongoing outbreak in Eastern Europe.

Yup, that is right, the source of the initial measles was probably from Europe, maybe some one visiting from there. Nothing to do with immigration.

Also, does anyone know of anyone actually advocating for "open borders"? And is the claim that democrat want to import more voters(who can't actually vote) one of the most idiotic things ever? I think it is...

What Trump says is gospel. No arguments or contradiction allowed. Apparently. It's the simplest thing in the world to do a little basic research behind screeching headlines, but it appears Trump's adoring fans have neither the intent nor the intellectual capacity to do so.

Thanks for importing all these diseases.

As the OP suggests, the real disease of willful, religious ignorance is already here and is the reason these other diseases are making a comeback.

All those other diseases don't count? :lamo

All those other diseases don't count? :lamo

Not in a thread about measles  But, the morons part might allow for a special exemption.

For the 900th time I must explain that vaccinations are not 100% effective, and don't always last forever. Learn this, and you'll be confused less often.

I've heard you can't fix stupid.

And this is where the Right losses all credibility if it ever had any.

Blaming Immigrants suggests that we could close this country off entirely and THAT would have prevented a Measles outbreak here. Of course, anybody with a brain would tell you that closing down all foreign travel by Americans and all travel to the US by foreigners is laughably absurd. There is no way to keep a malady with the long gestation cycle of the Measles from our shores....not possible.

The only way to prevent this would have been to have maintained the steadfast vaccination regimen my parents followed with me and my sister and that all of their contemporaries followed. PERIOD.

Any other contention is either pure balderdash or the most ignorant, blindingly stupid thing I have ever seen posted here.

So when caught in a lie, and saying stupid ****, instead of admitting what you do, you make **** up and hope no one notices...Well done, you have sunk to new depths...

Why are we so damned worried about measles, but not worried about letting hundreds of thousands of criminal invaders into this country with who knows what diseases they are infected with.

Ah...another one who seems to not want to read the OP, stick to the topic or debate the anti-vaccination issue.

Second half of the thread title. I guess I left a door open.

It turns out...a study in 2016 indicated that the majority of people refusing vaccinations are NOT doing it because they have some deeply held convictions against vaccines...merely because they believe they are no longer necessary.

We can help solve that problem for them by simply not allowing participation in public schools without a valid vaccination record-and that includes the school choice/voucher system. That will in and of itself provide a 'necessity' even if they dont believe it medical indicated.
