McConnell says Trump will sign funding bill, declare a national emergency

Hmmm.....

I think that other poster was right about you. Argyle?

No, by the way. What I, and the people who are honest, realize is that there was no national emergency until Trump lost Congress. If there was one before that, he would have declared it. And the Trump supporters on here would have been posting about it for 2 years, demanding that he do it.

Or are you saying nobody "paid attention" to illegal immigration until last month?

Welcome to DP but something tells me......never mind.

Again, so you think that nothing could have been there because no one talked about it before? That's an interesting angle to take.

Oh he voted Republican, now he's mad the Republicans aren't getting their way, so it's **** Congress. Talk about taking your ball and going home.

I gave a big **** you to Congress and Trump, too - by voting for a Democratic Congressional candidate for the first time in 38 years. Somehow I'm not sure that's what Jack did.

I have heard a lot of dairy famers in WI are losing their farms and doing very bad in the trade wars. It's really sad.

Yes we just set a record for the most small dairy farms filing for bankruptcy last year...

That's the thing though. People who didn't vote Republican are hoping Trump will do this because it'll be THE issue Democrats need to mobilize lazy pothead leftists.

People who did vote Republican are now either whining about Democrats or complaining that the 'problem' is Trump not getting his way. Hell even Jack's lukewarm rant can essentially be boiled down to ''the problem is Congress NOT Trump'

I personally hope Trump does go through with it. Trump needs to do this so we can finally get universal healthcare, raise minimum wages and a reduction of all the "loopholes" that allow real estate moguls to money launder for foreign oligarchs.

Your first 5 posts on here were all about what a poster was posting. And you sit here confused when I comment on the national emergency never being discussed, mentioned, cried over, or suggested by a Trump supporter - until Trump declared last month that we have a national emergency.

So either Trump supporters are incredibly stupid and miss a national emergency that's right in front of their noses for two years, but they didn't see it, or they are being duped by their fearless reality TV game show host leader now, because he couldn't fulfill a campaign promise that the easily duped bought into.

For someone who felt compelled to sign up after lurking here because Saladin was "parroting" Trump, you sure don't like it when others base opinions on posts made over a 2 year period.

This is an appropriation bill, he should issue a line-item-veto for the other garbage they threw in.

Not necessarily ... we did help elect Trump. A state and nation which would elect such a vile person really doesn't have much claim on deserving better.

But hopefully we will soon step up and fix this.

Believe I have been riding my friends and family that did not bother to vote because Hillary was going to win and she didn't need their votes.

If anything trump has taught us to not take voting lightly..

Unforeseeable? What about it was unforeseen? He straight up said that declaring an emergency was on the table a long time ago. That if an agreement could not be reached that he would quite possibly declare a national emergency.

Yeah well just maybe declaring a national should be reserved for instances where there actually is a national emergency. A failed pie in sky campaign promise to build a wall that Mexico was suppose to pay for does not qualify as one. If there is any national emergency it's that we have an authoritarian wannabe ****ing idiot of a President running this country into the ground.

Or, they thought Congress should do it's job....that never occurred to you did it? And Finally, after having MASSIVE amounts of time to DO their job, the President, among others, are finally willing to admit, that Congress WON'T do the job, and someone has to?

Naw, can't be that, it's just an evil plan by "the enemy" right?

And you wonder why the country is so divisive, it's amazing, isn't it?

You told them that with votes?

I assume you told the Republicans who controlled Congress for a decade to go **** themselves by voting for the Democrat?

Stop assuming. I went right onto floor of the house with a bullhorn.

Scary really that so many are fine with the president bypassing congress and the majority of the American people who don't want this stupid wall. You're basing your justification on lies. The wall does nothing to help secure the border, in fact it makes it worse because it takes funds away that could be better spent using other tactics. There is no crisis for congress to fix, the only crisis is Trump and his followers.

The Mexicans and weirdos on the left clearly don't want the wall finished! The other reasonable people do want the wall finished.

Exactly f it was such an emergency it should have been the republican run governments first order of business.

DACA was not a national emergency and was never declared to be one. Perhaps you didn't understand his post and the words "national emergency" he declared over and over?
As you point out, it is indeed worth noting that Trump has more authority to do this than Obama did to do DACA.

The point of his question, though, I think, was how Republicans would react Trump were to blatantly abuse his power in ways clearly beyond his authority, as Obama did with DACA. I was taking the pessimistic view, that they might react as Democrats did.

DACA was a change in policy not a national emergency
Which means Trump has more authority to do this than Obama did to do DACA, but his question was about how Republicans would react if Trump were to take similar action.

I remember you were all upset about it then. But we can trust Trump....lol
We sure can. Trust him to make a mess.

Congress being... Republicans who controlled congress for the better part of the last 6 years.

Thanks for reminding all of us.

Obama didn't declare a national emergency over DACA.

He issued an EO.

The Republicans who controlled Congress didn't do their jobs, and the man in the White House, who represents the same party, never thought to let them know we had a national emergency?

You must have voted for the Democrats in 2018.

You're such a putz.

I posted this within the last two weeks...

I was discussing this same point yesterday. Truly baffling how this didn't get done within the first six months or so. Maybe he didn't have enough Republicans on board? Who knows but this was one of the pillars of his campaign, he had majorities in the house and the senate, and he's supposed to be "the deal maker".

There is no excuse for the place we're in right now.
