I very very rarely agree with anything that Mitch McConnel does, but this is something that I have been an advocate for a while. Mitch wants Hemp to be taken off the schedule list, and be allowed to be grown as an agricultural crop again. In fact, I had mentioned that doing something like that would help the Kentucky miners find new occupations with the coal mines being much less productive and shutting down in Kentucky.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell doesn't want hemp on the controlled substance list.
While in his home state of Kentucky, McConnell announced he will introduce a bill to legalize hemp as an "agricultural commodity."
"I just had an opportunity to see some interesting and innovative products, some of which you see here on the table, made with Kentucky-grown hemp," he said while speaking at Frankfort, Kentucky, on Monday. "Sunstrand, based in Louisville, contracts with farmers in Henry County to grow hemp that they process into a number of consumer products including home insulation."

In all seriousness....what the hell is the big deal about hemp?

Every (subjective) website I see about the "benefits" of hemp seem to be run by hippies or potheads. That makes me leery of what they say. So, what is it about hemp that makes it so damn useful? What does hemp provide that we can't get somewhere else? I hear the hippies talking about hemp as a fabric. Hey...cotton does just fine for me. I hear hippies talking about it being a health food. There aren't any other healthy foods out there?

I'm not arguing against it. As long as they're growing the non-THC type, I don't give a rat's ass. I just have a hard time understanding its necessity.

Hemp is cheap to make, it is not perfect for everything but it does an amazing job for the cost ratio, it can make cloth, insulation, be merged with polymers to compete with plastic, heck im sure there are enough uses that any industry would be scared, having a cheap and effective product compete against them.

Well.. the CDB oil is the active ingredient that controls a lot of people's anxiety, nausea, and it's an anti-inflamatory. It is easier to make into a fabric, .. and also, it makes great paper. You can make 4 times the amount of paper per acre in hemp verses trees, and it grows much faster too. It's not a necessity, but it for some applications it's cheaper and easier.

Hemp as a fabric is more durable than cotton too.
