McCain Irrelevant, 'He's Dying Anyway,' White House Official Reportedly Says

It is not classy, but it is also not a big deal. It was said in private, with an expectation that it would not be made public. Every one says things in private that are lacking in class at times. It should also be noted that the White House did in fact handle this exactly right, a public statement and a private apology for Sadler.

If you are in the White House, you'd be a fool to not know the implications of anything you say, private or otherwise. You would be a fool to not know that the Trump white house leaks like a sieve

My feelings on John McCain is that he betrayed the middle class and small businesses by not voting to kill Obamacare. I believe that vote was treasonous. As bad as Obama was, I now believe McCain would have been much worse if he were voted president.

McCain threw away his legacy by giving the middle finger to the many that suffered under Obamacare. Many jobs were lost, many businesses suffered under that health care policy.

Remember, he voted against the Graham-Cassidy repeal bill. Lindsey Graham is his best friend!

McCain sure fooled his constituents. Everything he said about fighting Obamacare was a lie. IMO it is nearly impossible to repair your reputation after that.

I see you don't think people with pre existing conditions should have access to health care, but people who don't have insurance and who go to the emergency room and are unable to pay shouldn't have to pay a tax to defray the cost.

among other things.

The comment was a stupid one but there is nothing funnier than Dems and liberals pretending to be offended by this comment, or any type of vile speech for that matter.

The Dems and Trump haters are getting self-induced vapors over a comment that was not a very nice thing to say. That's the beginning of it and Sadler called Meagan McCain before the sun went down that very day.
But, not good enough. The party who supports women, their rights and keeps telling US that we are misogynists want to tie a rock around this one's waist and toss her in the Potomac.

I hope Trump or Sanders doesn't fire her. We all make mistakes and the Left will justify much, much worse like homophobia, outing gay people and calling for Trump to be assassinated ON SOCIAL MEDIA, even after the women who did the aforementioned need to be poked and prodded to apologize.
Or, give what passes for an apology from the Left.

I do hope the treasonous traitor who leaked Sadler's comment to the media gets s*** canned and never, ever darkens any WH door again.

How's that for class?

Note: I really thought there would already be a thread on this one, but couldn't find it if there is

I will give to Sanders, she is just following the leader, who himself has serious integrity issues. I am sure when Trumps latest reality show, Frumpy Housewives of DC airs, she will get a part. That woman puts sour in puss. I have seen her in interviews, she smiles and is at ease, she gets behind that WH podium and knows its another day of lying and dodging. Then again, Trump avoids giving his own news conferences, he has had a total of one since Oct 2017, that is six less than Obama. Tweeting during his daily bowel movements is not a press release, but is public record. His Presidential library will be contained on one CD rom.

"nothing funnier"?

Hope you get at least some enjoyment from your tiny sense of humor. The offended liberals, by the way, were not pretending but I agree the criticism has been overstated. As for "vile speech", most of us seem to becoming inured to it, courtesy of the President.

I wasn't trying to be humorous, just pointing out the hypocrisy of liberals feigning offense at this comment. They only care about it as a means to attack Trump. Let's not pretend otherwise.

"Dems and liberals" of course, meaning anyone who sees the lack of class that epitomizes the current administration.

One could agree that the current administration lacks class and still acknowledge that Dems and liberals are only pretending to be offended by this comment. It's simply another way to attack Trump so, of course, they jump right on it as if they care about McCain in some way.

McCain is neither a Dem nor a liberal. If a Democrat had said that he was irrelevant because he's dying anyway, then it would have been up to the Republicans to be offended. The bottom line is, anyone should be offended at such a remark, whether they're a "dem' or not.

No one outside of McCain and his immediate family should be 'offended' by the comment. Of all the nasty things said by both sides in the last couple years, this comment doesnt make the top 500.

Perhaps "offended" isn't the proper word. "Appalled" is a better term. It's also appalling that Sanders was more upset about the comment having been leaked than she was about it having been made in the first place.

Is anyone really surprised by this? This is just the latest in an almost endless string of low-class comments and tactics from this administration.

Classless. Utterly despicable. But also a window into the collective soul of the average Trump acolyte. The fact that that woman, Kelley Sadler, the former editorial page editor for the right wing Washington Times, still has a job this morning says it all. In fact the White House hasn't even issued an apology, much less a reprimand.

If there is one "good" thing that has come from the Trump era, it would have to be the formal ripping-away of the thinly veiled motivations and sentiments of the mainstream conservative movement in this country.

The ascendancy of a man like Trump has emboldened a lot of people in this country.

I would bet anyone $100 that the president laughed when he heard it. That's why Sadler still has a job and why the conservative movement in this country failed.

Exhibit B: window into the collective soul of the average Trump acolyte.

Not for nothing, but I was always taught that some "true" things need not be spoken aloud. On top of that, when has a supporter of the president ever concerned herself with what is "true"? This is the state of modern American "conservatism". If the Republican party can't take back the control of its soul and its message, it will cease to exist.

I would be upset about the leak as well. A stupid comment made in a private conversation can be addressed, and was. The person who took this straight to the press in order to embarrass the woman and the president needs to be addressed as well--with termination papers.

Sadler said what she said in her capacity as a taxpayer-paid official of the government and representative of the president. She said it in a business meeting. That is a big deal. It's indicative of the moral black hole that has consumed the WH.

Irrelevant.

Except for the fact that he is a senator and has enormous power, as shown in his Obamadontcare betrayal, he has been irrelevant for ages.

That made me laugh. Except that he's relevant because he is a US senator with enormous power, he isn't relevant.

What about Meghan and Cindy McCain?

Ah, so the bad guy in this story, to you, is not the person who said what she said but the person who repeated what she said. Morally bankrupt is the phrase that comes to mind right now.

On Thursday, Cindy McCain tweeted at Sadler: "May I remind you my husband has a family, 7 children and 5 grandchildren."

================

May I remind you, Cindy Mccain, that many Vietnamese, Cambodian and Laotian families have no living relatives because of war criminals like your husband.

They're defending John McCain. Think about that.
