It’s just to show solidarity with the rest of the crazy assholes that protect her. She’s a poverty pimp who is afraid to live in her own district and her constituents don’t get the punch line. Her district is a cesspool and they keep voting her in.

A group of counter-protesters wanting to counter a group called "Oath keepers" burned a US flag they stole off someone's truck and chanted "black power" despite the group they wanted to counter-protest not even showing up in a display of hate and racism outside Maxine Waters' office in California.

And amid all this, Waters responds by saying

“The Oath Keepers would like nothing more than to inflame racial tensions and create an explosive conflict in our community,” Waters wrote.

This is both infuriating and a massive double standard. Had this been a group of white people burning flags chanting "white power" outside a congress member's office it would be all over the media attacking (and rightfully so) white racists/nationalists and probably some Nazi's thrown into the mix. What I find the most disturbing though is Waters' reaction. She literally bashes the group that did not show up (and thus did no wrong) and blames them for wanting to inflame racial tensions or cause conflict when the conflict and racial tension was the cause of racist black counter-protesters. the double standard and sheer ignorance is just sickening, especially considering if the races involved were reversed it would rightfully spark a massive outcry and likely a movement to remove a congress member sympathizing with racists from office. The fact that this woman comfortably sits in government only speaks to the sheer ignorance of her voting population.

When I enlisted I swore an oath to protect the Constitution, not the flag.

It was the flag burners who put pressure on our politicians to end the Vietnam War. And has been used by many groups as a form of protest.

You can absolutely question the government’s actions, and patriotic liberals and conservatives alike should continue to do so because that means that they’re actually concerned with the wellbeing of the United States.
