GREENSBORO, N.C. — The terrifying armed robbery lasted less than a minute -- ending when a customer pulled out their own gun and shot the suspect four to five times.
According to the Greensboro Police Department, 18-year-old Malik Harris tried to rob at gunpoint the convenience store NC Tobacco on the morning of Feb. 29.
While the store employees and customers were huddled behind the register, another unsuspecting person walked into the store.
"He grabbed her by the neck, brought her back [behind the counter] at gunpoint," Khawaja said.
The situation took an unexpected turn when one of the customers took advantage of the distraction, pulling out their own gun and firing shots at the suspect.
"[The customer] shot him four or five times," said Khawaja. "It happened like in 45 seconds. Like 30 to 45 seconds.

You don't seem to be in any danger of running out of incidents your proposed gun ban would likely not effect.

Do you have any support for your proposed gun ban?

Reads like an intentional murder, not someone defending themselves. I assume you knew that, and know what the difference is.

Rich seems to not understand that countering stories about people actually defending themselves against criminals with guns with stories about people just being murdered and not defending themselves makes his position indefensible.

Maiden doesn't understand that reports of people being killed by guns are a daily event

And in 2019 there were more mass shootings, in the USA, than days in the year.

Rich is just presenting stories to support his view that guns can be detrimental to society. Just as Bum is presenting stories to support his view that guns can be beneficial to society.

Both can be true depending on who the person with a gun is and people seem to have formed their opinions. It is doubtful such stories change peoples perspective at this point.

Nope "can be" was the correct and appropriate term. There are instances of both good and bad uses of guns. To deny that is ignoring reality.

The bad = 40,000 deaths a year and over 70,000 injuries.

I always hate these statements. Mass shootings brings to mind a guy walking into a crowd of people and trying to kill as many as he can. The statistics count 3-4 people died as a mass shooting.

for example A guy robs a store with a buddy they shoot the proprietor get into an argument and shoot each other now it is a mass shooting. Or gangs get into a fight 4 people die over an argument about turf and that is a mass shooting. I have seen a report on the mass shooting board where it was cops and bad guys in a shootout with 3 dead and they called that a mass shooting.

close to 30,000 of those deaths may have happened whether a gun was present or not. If some one wants to kill themselves they can do it with or without a gun.

No, sometimes a mass shooter has a particular target in mind - like a group of family members who are together

Also remember that a person shot by a mass shooter does NOT have to die to be counted

Many mass shooters are stopped before they can finish killing so we have to have some criteria to decide what counts as a mass shooting

for example A guy robs a store with a buddy they shoot the proprietor get into an argument and shoot each other now it is a mass shooting.

No, the FBI and Congress define a mass shooting as one where 4 or more people get shot (but not necessarily die) in addition the the perpetrator(s).

Where's your evidence of that ?

Note: The success rate for a suicide attempt with a gun is something like 85%
Without a gun it is something like 20%

The success rate might be even higher once everyone is limited to shotguns in accordance with the Rich Gun Ban.

Including suicides in gun deaths while accurate bloats the numbers to make it more scary, especially when you don't mention where all the numbers come from.

Calling something a mass shooting should be more serious than just A man who commits the murder of his wife kids and commits suicide after. If a guy only kills himself and his wife and one kid it isn't a mass shooting? Logic seems really off, and dishonest.
From the list of mass shootings in 2019:

Two people were killed and two were injured in a late night double homicide.

Two people were killed and a police officer and bystander injured at the local Sanitation Department after a fight escalated

One person was killed and three police officers wounded when a home invasion turned into a hostage situation.

Do you really consider these mass shootings?

Thirteen people were shot at a party that was held to memorialize a victim of an earlier shooting, at least one was a teenager <--- this is a mass shooting.
