Mamma wants to know why they shot her boy.

To me, it means be cautious in relying on the stories of the alleged eyewitnesses who are alleging to have seen things if the encounter happened just after 6 a.m. and they were saying there were kids standing in harms way at the bus stop if that is not usual for that area. Some people look for a reason to try to pile on the cops by distorting the reality on the ground to create sympathy for the suspect they encounter. The kids likely wouldn't have been in danger by anyone except the suspect anyway.
