Different winds tonight — looks like homers only to right —

Over/under dropped to 7.5 for tonight, though it was 8.5 last night for tonight —

They have a chance in game 6 at least.

They have a chance in game 6 at least.

NYY always has a chance with their bullpen, especially with both teams throwing bullpen games, something I can’t remember happening in the playoffs in recent times.

The over/under is 9 and 5 in 9 and 5 innings, with the Astros a slight favorite in both, less so in 5 innings. Both teams are likely sleep-walking after their late flights.

Yanks down to final at bat, trailing Houston 4-2 as we approach the bottom 8.

We kind of saw the ultimate highs and lows of being a sports fan today.

Dj Lemahieu's 9th inning hr was pure joy. Jose Altuve's hr was pure pain.

I am cautiously optimistic about next year. Part of that is because Gerrit Cole is NOT re-signing with the Astros. 1. The Astros don't have enough money to sign him and b. He is a west coast guy that will likely sign with the Dodgers or Angels for $230 million over seven years.

So the Astros rotation will be led by a 37-year old Verlander and a 36-year old Grienke next year. I like my chances.

The Yankees should stay the course for the most part. Not re-sign Didi Gregorius, or Edwin Encarnacion. Re-sign Brett Gardner.

I would hope the Yankees sign Zack Wheeler. Consider trading Gary Sanchez, although I wouldn't just give him away. Maybe try swapping him to the Phillies or Cubs? I like the idea of paying Yasmani Grandal for 3 years $54 million and then trading Sanchez to the Brewers for Josh Hader and a top prospect.

Most likely they will move Torres to SS full-time, and Lemahieu to 2b full-time.

Most Yankees fans want them to trade Frazier and Andujar, they shouldn't though. First, they need depth in case Stanton can't stay healthy - Frazier and Andujar are DH options at least. Gardner will be 37 next year, no guarantee he will be able to produce.

Andjuar's value is depressed so it might be best served to have him play to see he's fully healthy. Frazier, who knows. Stanton's health is really a big question mark.

Again, for all the so called talking heads experts on the radio and TV who dismissed the importance of starting pitching in today's MLB. The WS has 2 of the top 4 starting staffs.

Good pitching still stops good hitting.

As for the Yankees they need to get it through their heads they need an ace or 2. They fatten up all year long beating the crap out of bad teams with bad pitching and hitting a million HR's in the little league park they play in, but then when the playoffs start they have to face big time pitching and play in ball parks where a swinging bunt to right field isn't a HR.

They need to have a couple of pitchers who can win 4-2 games on the road because in the playoffs they're not going to score 12 runs every game. And even in Yankee stadium they're not going to hit 6 HR's a game against the likes of Cole and Verlander.

Astros were expected...by anyone not struck with Yankee fever or living in the Northeast.

Wash came as a bit of a shock, considering how horrible they were during the first half of the season. Same could be said for the Cards, btw.

Speaking of Altuve, how do you pitch to a guy with the strength of an adult and the strike zone of a 5 year old.
Sanchez played like last season.
Encarnacion was never the same after his injury.
Gardner was a non-factor.
Gregorious should have made sure he performed better for the market.
I never thought Stanton was so fragile ... at least I hope that was the explanation.
Too many opportunities lost with bases loaded.

Expected? Nah, too strong a word. Slightly favored is more like it. Especially after they picked up Greinke. But with his post-season woes, even then they weren't a lock.

I'm no Yankee fan, but they were 'picked' by many others than just the people in the Northeast.

I'm a traditionalist 'pitching wins' guy. I liked the Astros because of their starters. I liked the Nats over the Dodgers because because of their starters. Dodgers have great pitching too, but then there's Kershaw.

Yankees have waaaay too many hitters on their lineup that do not make contact.

Sanchez is frustrating me but there aren't really many good offensive catchers available. I would still be open to trading him.

I am not really too worried about pitching.

Paxton outpitched Verlander in game 5. Verlander has pitched 3 straight so-so games in the playoffs. He's getting older.

The Yankees missed Domingo German, although he was very average in the second half. I don't think his absence made a difference.

Now Sonny Gray looked like a legitimate ace with the Reds. I don't blame the Yankees for trading him though.

The Mets weren't trading Jacob deGrom, Zack Wheeler or Noah Syndergaard to the Yankees. Fat chance.

Marcus Stroman, Grienke, etc... wouldn't have been worth top prospects and I heard teams were asking for Gleybar Torres...not going to happen.

The Yankees didn't overpay to sign Patrick Corbin, but does he look like an ace in the playoffs? Nope.

I would put in a strong bid for Wheeler. Teams are going to go big for Cole and Strasburg in the offseason. Wheeler is a risk, but he looked good last year and has experience pitching in New York.

I wish sportscasters would stop constantly referencing Altuve's height. He gets the job done.

As for those Yankees fans who mocked Greinke and tossed water bottles and trash onto the field: Suck on this.

Every fanbase has fans who do despicable things. New York fans are not even the worst.

I was going to mention German but I'm not sure of his status right now. You could never expect more than 5 innings from him but I thought he was pretty impressive while he was in.

TV wanted the Yankees versus the Dodgers to get the two biggest media markets - and they end up with neither.

I will be cheering for Washington. They look like the perfect underdogs.

Yankees bring in a lot of viewers because there is a large segment of fans that watch the yankees rooting for them to lose.

Yup. That's me. Season is now a success because the Yankees have been eliminated.

lol...Yankees and Dodgers are definitely two teams I cannot stand. Cards are probably close behind. I'm pretty thrilled with an Astros v Nats WS.

Yes - I am sure that is right.

Was rooting for the Astro's two years ago but this time I favor the Nats since it has been so very long since a Washington team has been in the series.

No real favorite on my end, here. Nats as the underdog will probably have me cheering for them. But, Stros are such a worthy team, I find it hard to root against them.

I was able to correctly acknowledge that Jose Altuve is not 6ft plus tall midway through the 1st inning. But for some reason the sportscasters feel the need to remind me in case I have the memory of a goldfish.
