Major League Baseball 2019

Thursday morning is my regular volunteer shift at the Historic Jamestowne section of Colonial National Park. I'll get home in time to catch the broadcast. Reminds me of Koufax vs Marichal.

That's nice volunteering like that..

You going Saturday? Both teams 2nd pitchers are pretty damn good too.

It's going to be 55 here tomorrow. warm enough for a fanatic like me to sit outside, make a gin and tonic or 2, and listen to the game..

I'm like a little kid in a candy store.. I can't wait.

All the baseball fans here.. Enjoy!! 'Goofs' enjoy your trip to Citifield next week.. The long term forecast looks pretty good.

Jack I would wish the Nats luck this luck this weekend.. But I can't... lol

YEAH BABY!!!

On Opening Day everyone is in first place.

Congrats to the Mets. Scherzer pitched well enough to win but deGrom was outstanding. Rookie base running mistake by Robles killed Nats' best opportunity.

Young players are going to make mistakes.. After 6 innings, 36 batters, the 2 starters had 20 strikeouts.. It was a pitchers duel that lived up to the hype.

I foresee another year when there will be more strikeouts than hits..

They were talking about the 'weirdness' of this today on the broadcast. The Mets lost their 1st 8 home openers(1962-1969). They won a World Series before they won an opening day game... lol

But since 1969 they are 36-14. Weird...

But enough of that..

If you are going to win on opening day, this is how to do it...

Welcome back baseball. We have definitely missed you.

Among the many opening-day heroics, Milwaukee Brewers center fielder Lorenzo Cain provided the best early highlight – robbing St. Louis Cardinals pinch-hitter Jose Martinez of a game-tying home run with a leaping over-the-wall catch for the final out.

The defending NL Central champion Brewers won the game 5-4 in a game that featured a total of six homers – three by each team – and one almost-homer.

Winning pitcher Jhoulys Chacin (1-0) even got in on the act, hitting his second career homer off losing pitcher Miles Mikolas (0-1) in the fifth inning.

The Dodgers have 8 home runs today. The Dbacks have 6 hits. Can you say 0-162?

The Greinke signing is just another loooong list of awful stupid signings by MLB teams.

He's going to make 31 mil this year, pitching for 1 of the worst teams in baseball.

Then again sometimes the 'pitchers duel' doesn't live up to the hype.

11-8 Mets. This was not a game you would want to show the kids. What a sloppy game by both teams. Errors, balks, walks, hit batters, and really bad pitching. If you're a baseball 'purist' this was a painful game to watch.

Yup. Nats looked like they still think it's spring training.

Mets were flopping around all over the place too.

Mets had a 7 run lead in the 9th, so Rule #1 is throw strikes and get outs.. So they start the inning with a walk, an error, a walk and a hit batter.

Expecting the worse I turned the game off then...lol
