Major League Baseball 2019

We shall see.

Robot umps I can see them doing..I don't like it, but I can see it coming...But Moving the mounds? Nah, how would they do it? Everyone from HS, to college, would be using 60'6" but the minors and majors would be 70'(just using 70, no distance was mentioned in this or any other article I read this morning) or whatever? How do they draft someone out of college who's never pitched from 70'?

I agree on robot umps and have been in favor a long time for balls & strikes.
I also agree moving the mound is a terrible idea. Start a new era of record-keeping? Burn out a generation of arms?

And now the Giants maybe back in the Harper hunt. If the Phillies are still letting Harper and Boras string them along their nuts. The Phillies should tell both a'holes to get lost. And they should do it in a way to screw Harper.

Offer him a can't refuse over the top contract so the Dodgers and Giants drop out. Then pull the offer and tell Boras to take a walk and go begging back to the Dodgers... Lol

A 13 year contract to a guy who batted .248 last season. That’s just stupid.

I believe I told you Harper & Boras wanted to top Stanton.

Yeah. We talked about. I think we both agreed it was petty as hell. And because it was obvious he did Not want to go to Philly, but signed there anyway for that few extra bucks.. That just ups the pettiness..

Why wouldn’t Harper want to go to Philly? Extremely power hitter-friendly park, stays in the same division so knows the competition. He signed for 13 years with no opt-outs. That’s a long time to go somewhere you don’t want to be, and we don’t know what any of the other offers were. Where do you think he wanted to go instead?

It was obvious he did everything he could not to sign Philly. Seemed like LA was his #1 choice but they must not have been willing to give him over Stantons $325 million. That has to be what this was all about. His per year money isn't anywhere near the top. But the total beat Stanton and that's all he and Boras cared about..

Can't wait to see him tumble. I'm a Giants fan, but they weren't going to pay him that much.

You have this weird idea that players don’t really want to sign for the most money they can get anywhere.

All things being equal, he might have gone to the Dodgers, but if you think these guys are going to give up $1MM or more just to play in nicer weather, or with friends as teammates, or to ‘beat’ someone else’s deal.... you’re wrong.

This deal was pretty much his lifetime earning deal, and he was going to take the deal that gave him the most money for the most years, period.

??? Not sure what you are disagreeing with me here. I've been saying for awhile with him and Boras it was always going to come down to who offered him more than $325 mil.. I said that 2-3 times right on this page. . Philly gave him the over $325 mil, LA didn't so he went with Philly.

All I said about LA is I think that's where he would rather have gone. But it was always about beating Stanton's $325 mil contract.

We don’t know what LA offered. They may have offered more, or equal, and he chose Philly. We don’t know.

It is pretty obvious if LA offered as much or more he'd be in LA..

All winter long it was reported over and over again the Phillies had the best offer on the table, but the Dodgers and Giants wouldn't go higher than 10 year /$300 mil.. So he's in Philly..

No- if he got 324, he would have taken it if no one offered more.

I’m sure they expected more than Stanton, but his contract wasn’t part of any goal.

If he got $200MM for four years, he would have taken it.

No, he wouldn't have taken $324 mil... Why do you think he/the Phils upped the contract to 13 years?

And yes he would have taken 4 years $200 mil.. It was obvious he and Boras wanted either the biggest total contract OR the biggest average per year contract. Obviously when Boras talked 2 years ago of Harper getting the 1st $400 mil contract they were hoping for both.. But the market changed, so they had to get 1 or the other.

If all he could get was $324... he wouldn’t sit out the season.

It’s certainly a huge loss for Boras. Harper got less per year and still didn’t get the opt out he wanted and nearly ran up until spring training to get signed.

It’s either really bad for baseball that their 2nd best position player got punked like that or that the market has gotten to high and Boras’ influence has faded. I’m hoping it’s the latter

He will hit a lot of HR's in that tiny ball park.
