That picture was taken today of the Al Assad base. One aircraft hangar is now a crater with two others heavily damaged along with whatever was inside. In addition to a taxiway and several other buildings. Iran called Trump’s bluff and won.

the way I understand it is that the base is an Iraqi base that US troops were stationed at. no troops got killed. tell the iraqis they need to rebuild their base and ask Iran why they pummeled it.

It's a bit early to be calling this a win but so far so good. Iran could still pull a stunt but at present it's better than the death and destruction I was being promised by CNN and MSNBC.

if they do anything more stupid than lobbing missiles to save face, then yeah we'll have to reassess whether we should retaliate, but Trump is giving them every out. i am glad to see it.

The US has used Al Assad as a critical base of operations in Iraq for 10 years. It may be an Iraqi owned base, but most of the people and equipment there are American. The drone that killed Soleimani was launched from there. So whatever Iran blew up there was probably ours.

I like to know what the other side is saying so I watch and read stuff from all points of view.
 
In the pictures above I see at most three clear impact sites. And a base that is far, far, far from heavily damaged.

So you don’t believe Trump should have threatened to commit war crimes if Iran retaliated? Also, Iran is hardly a minor player and they do have the backing of both Russia and China. What does the US have other than a windbag known not to be credible in his threats?

My guess was that their big surprise would be a cyber attack. Lo and behold, I got in the office this morning and wanted to simply print off an image attachment a client sent me. One 2 hour update download, a 1 hour update install, discovery that the image was a file type I couldn't open (.heic) and another 5 minutes figuring out how to convert it into something legible I'm totally convinced I was right...especially after the update wiped out my background picture which I am now wholly convinced is in Iranian hands.

I don't give **** what he threatened. I care what his response is and that it is measured, strategic and sound. it is thus far. they know we can **** them up if we want to. that is all we need, hopefully.

Iran is a minor player because of the 2 main adversaries you named that we need to garner strength against to oppose and weaken right now.
