London to begin Knife control...I kid you not.

That's why The United States is the greatest country in human history. We aren't subject to random confiscation of our property.

You're begging to be enslaved.

Freedom to die in math class is no freedom

Freedom to die in math class is no freedom

Being forced to go to a government school and not provided with adequate security, nor any means of self defense is slavery.

Well, I would call it objective because it takes all the freedoms into account rather than a subjective view like:

"If a country has no free gun ownership they are not country with freedom at all".

And I said that the countries were roughly equally free.
But like I said how different things are weighed is objective which is why studies like are not really not worth much. Another example leaving guns or if it would be what counts as being more free, Country A that allows you to keep more of the money you earn so you have the freedom to spend it how you like But has many laws that influence media vs a country that has higher taxes but more free press. Which of those two countries is more free. Making that determination is extremely subjective.

Pure insanity. This is tyranny. What next? Walk with your hands behind your back when in public and do not make eye-contact with pedestrians or be jailed? Pure insanity. Just absolutely ****ing insane.

Forced? No one is forced to go to public school

Not even a year, one single month. Last year New York's homicides were more than double that of London. Incidentally, New York was only the 67th most deadly US city last year.

Thanks for the catch. There was one other consecutive month where London had one more murder, 22 v. NYC 21. Just another note, often articles use the terms “homicide” and “murder” interchangeably, which they are not. Murder requires intent to kill while homicides do not, such as an accident that is called negligent manslaughter. Most articles will also talk about the murder rate, give its % increase or decline and give the number of murders but not the actual rate. The 2017 homicide rate for the 134 homicides in London, which include the 116 murders, was 1.5 per 100K population. NYC had 290 homicides for a rate of 3.4.

Ya think so?

Yup. To be clear, your idea of edge-sharpened sporks is impracticable, as people could get cut, and cartoonish (just picture that idiotic supply and demand). You are "practically" proving it yourself by saying “I've said for many years, London will be sporks-only.” So, all those years you’ve been saying so, and it hasn’t happened yet. Can you give us an ETA?

Sporks don't come with a sharp edge. When people start doing that, then sporks will also be banned.

well given there is no evidence that laws that target honest gun owners actually decrease crime-we win that argument

Your "no evidence" couldn't possibly be owed to the fact that there has been next to zero funding for research on gun violence for the past 20 years.

Congress Quashed Research Into Gun Violence. Since Then, 600,000 People Have Been Shot.

"The landmark study in 1993 showed that bringing a gun into the home puts everyone at much greater risk."

For some reason  no one has noted the ever so inconsequential fact that the number of English police officers has dropped by approximately 20,000 since the Conservatives took control of Parliament. In 2013 alone, London lost 803 constables with the number of uniforms on the streets continuing to drop since then.

Fewer bobbies might just possibly be one cause for the increase in murders.

Wow...Lots of as they alternate facts...

so lets review....the report says...London exceed New York Murder rate....

0.3-Original-NY-London-figures.png

however New York updated it murder rate after March.... this is the result

0.4-Revised-NY-London-figures.png

now if you really look at the numbers in both New York and London the cities have average of 8.5 million population and the murder rate is about 20 something...
both cities also have the toughest guns laws...and I assume the remark was a jab at gun control.... but if you look this in a greatest context.... here is the New York murder rate compared to other cities with far less population

0.1-US-cities-by-murder-rate.jpg

so for example Olando, Huston, Miami with more "liberal Gun" laws have more murder rate...so is that for gun control or against gun control?

One thing that is certain...the poorer the city the more murder rate, so the murder rate is more aggregate of the poverty and economic status than anything else.

Let's not try to dishout too many alternative facts...it is only Tuesday.

Diving Mullah

Excellent post. And we haven’t even discussed Chicago. It’s hard to imagine that the gangs in Chicago would be able to kill as many people with knives.

The fact that gangs have to resort to using knives proves that gun control in the UK prevents guns from getting into the hands of criminals.

Finally, murder rate is deceptive. Most people who are shot do not die. And you can have armed robbery without a shot being fired. And police shootings don’t count as murders.

All that’s been established is that crime in NYC and London is very low. And London has succeeded in keeping guns out of the hands of criminals.

I’d prefer worrying about getting stabbed than shot.
