Trump supporters are hypocrites. They chanted "lock her up," to HRC, when it hasn't been proven that she did anything illegal. You would, however, think that they must really, really care about corruption, right?
No. They aren't bothered at all by the Trump's corruption, kleptocracy and self-dealing, who said he would 'drain the swamp.' My view is that it's largely racism -- they simply buy into Trump's biases and see him as the guy that will interfere with govt resources going to brown and black people.
They don't seem to mind that he's subvert the rule of law and convert their nation from a democracy on paper to one-party autocracy in practice. The difference is that in other parts of the world where this has happened, like Hungry and Poland, the right-wing autocrats at least threw the masses a bone. Trump’s domestic economic policy, however, has been standard Republican top-down class warfare -- tax-cuts for the rich and regulation cuts for big corporations. The average Trump supporter is just too bewildered with their fawning to realize that cutting the ACA and other parts of the social safety net hurts them. At the same time, Trump has pursued his personal tariff obsession despite mounting evidence that it’s hurting growth. The economy was supposed to be his big political selling point. Instead, polls of his net job approval on economic policy are, on average, barely positive even now -- and likely to get worse as tariffs on consumer goods bite and the economy slows.
