Live Thread for the SC Democratic Presidential Debate

cool  good on them. I still have zero sympathy whatsoever for the notion that we should tax people who are going to earn ~36,000 a year for the rest of their lives to give to people who are going to earn ~$360,000 a year for the rest of their lives.

but the problem is this-politicians pander to those making 36K a year by telling them they can get more goodies and those politicians will merely raise taxes on "billionaires" to pay for that. In reality, either the people making 36K get taxed properly, or we have a deficit

Bloomberg hopelessly unable to remember the word 'settlement'.

Bloomberg clearly cannot make a joke but he will get a lot of wind in his sails after tonight. Amy did better this time. Bernie is in trouble outside of California. Pete makes some good points but as nonsequiters when he has nothing to offer in foreign affairs. Warren hurt herself by trying to pitch to racism too often.

Pete trying to talk over Bernie during Bernie's time AGAIN. Ass.
Agreed, but it's politics. Blame the moderators, who are useless.

Mayors sure do keep the snowplows running! And lack of can cost an election!

CF Chicago's former Mayor Bilandic.

No, mayors manage the people who keep the snowplows running. Effective executives aren't keeping paper in the copiers.

Bad idea. VP's should be aligned with the policies; the reason they might not be is basically political whore care only about the votes.
Tell that to J.F.K., with his holding his nose and accepting L.B.J. And guess what? It worked. L.B.J. brought in Texas allowing Kennedy to prevail.

It's the Bernie enemies and moderators bringing it up.

Proving they don't realize it's not the Cold War anymore

This will never be not funny:

Romney Not Ready.webp

WTF is Warren babbling about when she says its not our choice to make about our own embassy?

Many do. Doubling down on that by giving out more goodies isn't the answer.

In reality, either the people making 36K get taxed properly, or we have a deficit

No. We have record revenues and economic growth and a trillion dollar deficit. In reality either we curtail spending, or we have a deficit.

Biden gets a win with the "why am I stopping.... my catholic school training" :D

Yes, JFK was a political whore by picking LBJ - which came back to bite him as president, but the country got lucky that LBJ shocked the country by being a southerner who supported (most of) JFK's policies as president's instead of the south's.

The thing about Bloomberg is he needs to keep AA support that has drifted to him from Biden, which is very fluid right now, and I'm not so sure that if Biden wins SC big that AA's don't come back over to him for Super Tuesday and prevent Bloomberg from anything more than an odd state.

But, it's hard to tell with the race being fluid who's where.

I think Klobuchar is right, she could bring in the left and a lot of the middle who are tired of Trump. These middle of the roaders are not going to vote for Bernie.

Her Minnesota is trending RED, though she won it by 540,000 in 2018. Btw, Sherrod won Ohio by 300,000.

OMG Bernie just called Netanyahu a big racist. That is so sad because Netanyahu has been able to break bearers with many Middle Eastern countries as well as working with multiple African countries. So sad to hear this kind of rhetoric.

I work in EMS and I have seen more strokes from Biden in the last 40 minutes than in the entirety of my career.

I have a man crush on Pete Buttigieg. He can work off his baby fat in the VP's office and then take over in 2028.

Bloomberg hopelessly unable to remember the word 'settlement'.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It's in function of age. Word finding is a problem for someone almost 80 years old. i doubt that it is ignorance. It's probably physiological.

Now Amy lying about Bernie, claiming he wants to spend $60 trillion per year.

Everyone lying but bernie. That sounds like trump. Commies v. Fascists. Should be ...

Crappy moderators - Pete just got to attack Bernie and Bernie got no response.

150,000,000 Americans are insured through work. A lot of these people don't want to give up their work place health insurance.

Can Bernie win with numbers like that?

Unfortunately he presided over substantive nuclear proliferation in that he basically gave Israel more or less a complete pass regarding its gestating nuclear program at the time versus Kennedy.

Nah. She's the Midwestern girl-next-door. Midwesterner's love her. I see that appeal. And also see how that may not appeal country-wide ...
After her meltdown last week ...
