He gets a lot of negative news stories because a lot of negative things are happening. The whole Pruit situation...a public official charging tax payers a lot of money for frivolous things, getting cheap rent from a lobbyist, and barring specific news agencies from a news conference and then not being fired/disciplined for it would be a huge scandal that would see a ton of coverage. It's one of many things happening in the Trump White House.

I see a lot of stories weekly and sometimes multiple in the span of a day or two that would be in the news for months for a normal Presidency. Things aren't even really "scandals" anymore with Trump because it's just a perpetual lurch from one thing to another.

He doesn't care though because he thinks his base doesn't care because it's all "fake news". He's right to...at least for a % of that base. He is hoping that base can carry him because for everyone else outside of MAGA rally's...Trump is a disaster.

The right repeats debunked stories about Hillary all the time...if it was found that she actually did just one or two scandals that has hit Trump Republicans would be calling for impeachment.

You don't think it was glaringly obvious that Trump didn't write the tweets after Guiliani admitted Trump paid off Stormy? There was a series of Tweets obviously written by Trump's lawyers with a better vocabulary, better punctuation, and overall a more cohesive statement.

I'm going to throw another thing out there. Trump has been pumping up the N Korea talks for weeks. From conservative news stories (and this site) Kim Jung already was prepping to destroy his arsenal. Now...the meeting may not even happen. Presidents before Trump would of been more cautious because it would be embarrassing for a White House to get ahead of events and for it to blow up in their face. This President..it's par for the course.

In one week we have the Chinese end of the Trade war and Trump stating that the meeting with N Korea may not happen. Do you think either of those are positive? Do you think in either situation any other President would get any sort of positive coverage from those events?

Trump has always said he looks forward to talks...but "we'll see".

The thing about news coverage of China/Trade and Trump/NK isn't that they report on it. It's the way they report on it. It's an event. That's all. Yet the multi-media constantly reports such events as negatively as they can. Then their talking/writing potato heads give their negative spin. Then the rest of the echo chamber repeats and that negative nonsense.

THAT'S why Trump slaps them back...as he told Stahl.
