Leggings, And their Poor Poor Victims - BOYS

Women look at women more than men. They are extremely judgemental creatures. ;)

Yes, we are...and the older we get, the more critical...because it's nice to know that even at my age, there are women who look worse than I do...:2razz:

You must be fairly young.

The older I get, the larger the population of good looking women gets.

lol...I was just thinking about that, mostly because I have the hots for this twenty-eight year old chick I run into far too often. I think to myself. If I was 28, would she still drive me crazy?

The consensus of the collective voices in my head is a resounding "No."

No. It is just that you are American and therefore do not understand basic fashion etiquettes.

Shorts can be worn at home, at the gym, at barbeques, on boats, beaches and in parks. But, that's about it.

Again presuming the ideals of home are universal. How quaint.

You never see them in NYC nor should you.

That is an outright lie. NYC summers means women in shorts, and men. Especially in the parks, and everywhere else. Heck, in NYC men even wear shorts during the winters.

Bull crap.

We wear shorts to work.
We wear shorts to restaurants. We wear shorts to movies, concerts, shopping malls, parades, bars, and just about anywhere we damn well please.

Fashion etiquette is for losers.

Etiquettes are based on local customs. Meaning that basic fashion etiquette in one area are not the same in another area. So the fashion etiquette here in the states is not the same as in Europe.

Speaking off that; i can't stand high waist jeans!

I am fully serious. Shorts are not ever to be worn in city environment.

Some people would have said the same of jeans back in the 70's. Cultures change with time and location. On the issue of high waist jeans I disagree. I like my jeans to stay up where they belong. Have you tried wearing mid rise? The damn things constantly slide down. They're a total pain.

OH. I guess it's just wherever I go in the city that they are not worn.

The ancient Romans and Greeks wore shorts, and short skirts.

You've obviously not gone clubbing anywhere in Europe where young and not so young party. Shorts are everywhere, including on stage at R&R and Pop shows. When last in Britain two summer ago, I saw men in shorts everywhere, and in bad taste, shorts below the knees. You do need to get out more. z

Only in Italy did I not see men wearing shorts off the tennis courts, but then Italian men happen to have skinny legs and want to hide them. :doh

To my experience, "no shorts" and even "no jeans" is a developing world thing.

There are fanatic nuts in every faith...personally, I've never heard of such a thing...

I was working at job where a Wiccan worked as well. I asked my presiding overseer how I should deal with her. He told me I should avoid her if at all possible. Because witch gained power by sacrificing people to the devil and that the greatest sacrifice they could make was one of a holy man that had just lost their virginity outside of marriage. So they try to take a persons virginity then sacrifice them. That if I let her even speak to me I could be bewitched. Now this was 20 years ago. I know a lot has changed since then.

Never did I claim otherwise. However, Americans are notoriously known for their lack of proper etiquette. Take something as simple as eating - Americans hold the fork in their right hand and that it is just something that should never happen!

We live in the present.

I never said no one does it. i just pointed out that it is one of many fashion faux pas.

I've been a JW since 1976 and I can tell you, that is not the norm and I've met literally 1,000's and been to 1,000's of meetings/assemblies/conventions...

Well, there are mainly three quotes in her article that, according to me, highlights a very important issue in contemporary society and those are;

1. "[We live in a]world in which women continue to be depicted as “babes” by movies, video games, music videos[.]"
2. "[W]omen should be viewed first as people — and all people should be considered with respect."
3. "But I wonder why no one thinks it’s strange that the fashion industry has caused women to voluntarily expose their nether regions in this way."

I would trace these issues back to the Sexual Revolution that was supposed to "liberate the female sexuality", but which instead turned out to do the very opposite and female sexuality has now become so inflated that it is, literally, not worth more than a swipe of the finger against a screen.

I'll just say that my wife wears "leggings" whenever she wants to be really comfortable, which is around the house, on a hike in the woods, traveling in the car, sometimes by air. She doesn't typically wear leggings where fashion matters. We cleaned the house yesterday to get ready for a guest coming tomorrow - she wore leggings.

Leggings can also be worn in place of hosiery. My daughter wears them under dresses.

But it does affect people. The culture of over-sexualisation is solely responsible for the tremendous tragedies we're seeing today - abortion, abandoned children, high divorce rates, broken families, AIDS, rape, violence and sexual assault against women, and so on. It's foolish to simply pass this off as an individuals fashion choice when those choices are part of a culture that is completely detrimental to society.

I have no problem with women wearing anything but I can accept why some people would. After all, I'm sure you wouldn't support someone's right to wear a KKK or Nazi uniform in public. Even if it may be legal, it's a toxic, and self-endangering thing to do and should not be encouraged or glorified.

And you would be very wrong; I would and do support their right to wear it, just not the ideology behind it.....do not conflate my supporting a citizens right with supporting their beliefs.

As for this:

No...just, no.

All of the above is the sole responsibility of the individual.....blaming "over sexualization" ranks right up there with the mind set of those who will not accept responsibility for their own actions.

I can understand dogs and cattle acting on their sexual impulses, but if you are taking the stance that humans cannot ( true mental illness not withstanding ) control the impulse to start humping at the drop of a hat, or against the will of a woman, you need to back up and re-evaluate yourself.

Like I said, it's rape apologetics.

I'm more comfortable with people wearing leggings or sweatpants, than I am seeing people wearing socks with sandals.

STOP IT. STOP IT NOW. :2razz:

Baby, you haven't seen sexy until you've seen me rock a pair of socks with crocks. If I'm really feeling nutty, I'll accessorize with my matching fanny-pack!

Actually here in the states holding your fork in the right hand would proper etiquette. I could say the same thing about Europeans that they don’t follow proper etiquette. Because where I am from if someone, even a person you don’t like, comes to your house. You are to feed them. It doesn’t matter what time of day it is or who they are. You feed everyone who comes to your house. European don’t do that so they don’t follow proper etiquette.

So it would be ok for you to be friends with a witch and have them over to your house for a social dinner.
