This is right, post Clinton Corp the D's need to face the music and get to work trying to make their party more of a player in the states. But one thing missed by the author is that even in DC the D's are mostly lead by way over the hill people often with weak to very weak records of accomplishment....and old ideas...... arguably because this is the way Clinton Corp wanted it.

So long as the courts dont put an end to gerrymandering there is every reason to expect that 2020 redistricting will even further weaken D's in the House...to the point that they might as well forget about running that body till 2032 (or is it 2034?, I'd have to look into that). This is what winning in the states gets R's, amongst other things. Why the D's never act like I care IDK, it seems that they put all their marbles on their expectation that with the Senate and the POTUS Chair they would pack the court with partisan Liberal hacks and rule that way.

But that is not going to work either.

2040 will be the next POTUS census remap election if 2020 is a disaster .

The traditional Democrats of old aren't, that's true. However, in the last years, the leftist part of the Democrat party have been dragging what used to be the traditional Democrats of old further and further left. So much so that they aren't satisfied with even the progressive agenda that Obama's been pushing, to which congress has resisted during his term. They are so dissatisfied that some, even in these forums, post the ludicrous claim 'Obama is Bush lite', as if the Democrats going even further left would gain them more voter support than the shrinking support they've gotten during the same time frame with their 'left' agenda.

The next Presidential election after a reapportionment will be 2024. The next after that will be 2032.
