Left turns on Obama for challenging calls to ‘tear down the system’

Former President Obama is correct and I'm pretty sure that the day after the election, he will have earned the right to say to these far leftists, "I told ya so."

too bad it took him 3 years after his presidency to learn that lesson.
too bad he didn't take heed when he first became president.

they say with age come wisdom looks like he finally wised up.

So the Left turns on the most successful liberal politician in decades. Yeah that seems smart.

Bwhahahah!!!! Nice try buddy. Sorry, but no. Everybody loves Obama, but unlike the right wing of this country liberals don't necessarily march in lock step with every single thing our leaders say. We have the mental capacity to think for ourselves. We don't fire radio talk show hosts mid show just because they say something critical of our President like Republicans do.

Hey, well, it's their proverbial funeral if they don't.
He's right about this.
Yep they have shifted so far left their typical voting blocks are starting to crumble. I personally know 3 democrats that have switched party because they feel the democrats left them. The dems are going to have a problem turning out a lot of their traditional voters.

Your opinion on democrats is irrelevant as you wouldn't vote for any no matter what, so...less than useless

You've admitted the Democrats are only going for their base. Meanwhile, independents are very impressed with Trump's economy, border security, jobs, stock market and unemployment.

Socialism and open borders vs. record-breaking market after record-breaking market, jobs, record-breaking unemployment and border security. Hmm. Tough one.

You have to appreciate the irony of a right leaning media source telling their own that the left is upset with themselves over divisions within the party.

Worse, Obama is right.

The further this lot of hopefuls go in trying to appeal to the furthest left the more likely that moderate left leaning and independent voters stay home in 2020. It becomes a test for the DNC to decide what is most important to them, ensuring a win or ensuring the support of the very groups they upset in 2016 pushing Hillary past Sanders.

The supposed viral hashtag #TooFarLeft only illustrates my point further. Everyone rushing to Twitter, irony I know given how often Trump does so, suggests the same decision.

Who is appealed to given the division on the left.

We all know it is there even if FoxNews is overplaying that card much to the delight of their audience.

Left turns on Obama for challenging calls to ‘tear down the system’ | Fox News

Former President Barack Obama is facing a new wave of criticism from the Democratic Party's left flank after cautioning Democrats about going too radical with their policy proposals — in the latest sign of a growing rift between the popular 44th president and the party's activist base.

Obama on Friday warned 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls to pay attention to what voters actually think, claiming at a gathering of Democratic donors that most of them don’t want to “tear down the system” and that many Democrats “just don’t want to see crazy stuff.” Members of his party soon turned on him, using the hashtag #TooFarLeft.

“I’m #TooFarLeft because I want kids to be safe in school. I’m #TooFarLeft because I want people to live in dignity. I’m #TooFarLeft because I seek justice and equality. I’m #TooFarLeft because I think healthcare and housing are human rights,” tweeted former Hillary Clinton adviser Peter Daou, who started the hashtag.

Daou clarified Sunday evening that the slogan "isn't primarily about Obama for me, though he was the catalyst for the tag."

It quickly went viral, used by other liberal Democrats such as Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Celebrities weighed in as well. Former “Two and a Half Men” star Jon Cryer claimed a "far left" position is necessary to counter an existential threat to humanity.

“I am #TooFarLeft because I believe that we cannot let greed cause the collapse of the ecosystem that supports all human life on earth,” he tweeted.

This is not the first time Obama has taken a stance against the leftward drift of the party or been on the receiving end of criticism for allegedly being too moderate.

During a discussion at the Obama Foundation Summit held at the Illinois Institute of Technology in October, Obama explained that the world is more complicated than people realize and urged politically active Americans to be practical if they want to be effective.

“This idea of purity and you're never compromised and you're always politically woke, and all that stuff, you should get over that quickly," Obama said.

LOL! Nothing in that hack article indicates or demonstrates that 'the left' is turning on Obama.

Why lie about something like that?

Another of your red herring

You obviously don't want to acknowledge why your ignorant opinion is unhelpful here so let me help you: You need to first establish a pattern of credibility to opine on this matter before anyone can take you seriously on it. You and your ilk have gone off on Obama way too much to have received the privilege of being listened to here. :)

All you deserve at this point is for your deflections and inconsistencies to be pointed out. ;)

It's like people in the peanut gallery trying to armchair quarterback over a disagreement between experts who are far more skilled in the matter than they are.

Their opinion is nothing more than that--their opinion. It contributes nothing of value to the discussion. :)

Left does not equal liberal.
The right might march in lockstep and toe a party line but there's more room for individuality on the left. I'm a pretty typical liberal and I definitely oppose some of the agendas of other leftists.

To be fair those supporters of Trump aren't conservative. They are just racists and crybabies who use the con/republican tag because thats what he did.

Well there is no help for you since you are drunk on the Kool Aide.

And now that you are out of intelligent arguments, you proceed to the juvenile insult stage.

I think those two illustrate my point even further... now we have the right talking to their audience and arguably further left talking about this to their audience.

Perhaps I've lost my mind but it seems like all the wrong people are championing this, and it makes a bigger mess of our current environment of intentional division oriented politics.

Nobody is "turning" on Obama. The same far left/progressive part of the party never liked his generally centrist/center-left approach, so they don't like his pragmatic advice to certain Dem candidates to stop promising pies in the sky.

I'm not surprised that the board's right wingers, especially the committed Trumpists, think otherwise. Fox spent however long telling them that people on the left think Obama is the messiah, so they see this as someone turning on him. It isn't. Plenty of people on the left were unhappy with any number of things Obama did, be it the deeply wrong NSA expansion of surveillance or the 90% civilian kill rate drone strikes, or even the hopelessly naive approach to trying to pass Obamacare and attempts to be above it all.

Obama's trying to warn idiots about iceberg and all he hears is shut up....love it:lamo

Try not to delude yourself into believing that you are qualified to discussed such complicated matters when you have proven that you can't even get the basics right. :)

And your opinion is nothing more than opinion.

When you can't defend Trump, just point fingers at Obama or Hillary. Classic Trump supporter move.

You started off with deflection on your first post in this thread. So you are dismissed.
