Just because motorcycles are legally allowed to lane split does not mean that car drivers are mandated to give them room to do so. Car drivers have every right to use all of their lane and when bikers come flying through and/or get mad when a car is in their way the biker is an asshole. What I would really like to do is catch one of these ****ing ******s that hit a car's side mirror as they flee off in to the traffic like the little bitches that they are.

What are your thoughts?

Depending on where it is, lane splitting can be safer for the motorcyclist (and of course dependent upon how the motorcyclist is riding). I think attempting to kill someone for obeying traffic laws is a bit over the top. People intentionally blocking off paths to motorcyclists because they're jealous or angry because the motorcycle can get through legally are making more problems and needlessly endangering other motorists in the vicinity. Motorcyclists should not attempt to damage cars, but when people are veering into your path and endangering your life, emotions can run high.

Instead, the adult thing to do is for cars to use the middle of their lanes, allow room, and behave like adults. Motorcyclists should lane split responsibly & safely, avoid damaging other cars, and behave like adults.

Quite a bit over the top. That would constitute reckless homicide.

I think you're far too emotional to ever legally be permitted to operate a vehicle of public roadways. The point is to drive safely, and if 'using the whole lane' is a purposeful act that would endanger a cyclist, then one isn't mature enough to be driving.

Do society a favor and take a bus. You'll likely live longer and have less suppressed rage issues at people you don't know.

What a self-absorbed, douche post! I ride on the east coast, where my state has only recently allowed m/c’s to ride abreast in the same lane. Used to be staggered. I got the opportunity to ride to CA, where ‘lane-splitting’ is legal. It took a while to get over the adrenaline rush, but I found all of the four-wheel motorists to have a different position than the OP. Why impede another because you’re a dick? I suspect you never had the stones to head out on a m/c!

Only one trip to CA on two wheels; one rush was a CHP motor officer passing me as we were lane splitting in adjacent lanes.....some people??

People get so pissed off at lane splitters that they intentionally try to get in the way, or open doors, or otherwise hurt the rider. What Bodhi is talking about "taking their lane" is usually a road rage issue because some cager is pissed that a biker is splitting and they intentionally try to cut them off.

Lane splitting is not legal here and I have seen a motorcyclist hospitalized trying to do it during a traffic jam and literally everyone cheering the injury

That you are a very sad person who has a very weak personality.

You seem to need to impeed the rest of the world in order to think that they are not better in any way than you.

You want the experience of driving past all those losers in cars? Then buy a bike and get wet in the rian and attacked by ignorant fools with small parts.

Seen it happen on the 405 and there weren’t many people mourning the rider’s injuries

Agreed... although I am referring to the car driver that is innocently over to a side of the lane as a motorcycle comes flying up and the biker gets angry about it or where the car driver is legally changing lanes and does not see the biker flying up 8 cars back.

Lord what a stupid post... but not unexpected.

Not even close to what I was talking about but it is interesting that when I talk about motorcyclists being assholes about being inconvenienced by an innocent driver here comes a motorcyclist making an accusation that an innocent driver is purposely trying to impede them and their adrenaline rush...

I am talking about lane splitters that come flying up to a car lane changing or that is "too far" to the side of the lane impeding their progress...

Holy **** will people stop posting idiotic stupid ****... I am talking about bikers being assholes... not the car driver and for ****s sake and if you want to insult me on the internet then you are the sad and weak person... ****ing stupid posts...

You're the one with rage issues about bikers and intimations of violence.

Anyone like that is a danger to himself and others. I seriously don't think you should be driving.

 What a retarded post.

That is not right... but I have seen people get pissed too...

You asked what I thought about car drivers deliberatly impeding bikers because they were going past you.

You also moaned about how they would strike your mirror when you had the right to all the lane.

Well, I answered. You have since tried to change the thrust of your post. Unlucky the editing period is over and your words will remain for ever.

Wrong. I did not once ever say that the car driver was deliberately impeding the bikers... and yeah, my words are there to prove it.

Innocently? Or feigning innocence to stick it to them? "Oh sorry, I didn't see you"

The latter is not only a dick move but dangerous.

Even if the car is purposely driving close to the side of the lane that only means that the biker needs to wait a minute until a safe opening occurs in order to pass... becoming a dick about it and honking or hitting a side mirror is not acceptable...

You said that you considered it your right to use all the lane.

That is not your right. You do not own the road. You have to share. Remember when you were little and momey told you to play nice?
