Kirsten Gillibrand has dropped out of the 2020 presidential race

Yep, and it helps get you hired by MSNBC and CNN. Adding past POTUS candidate to talking head on your resume is a huge plus.

Is that the case though? How often have failed presidential candidacies elevated a person’s career?

Most of the candidates aren’t even qualifying for the next debate. You keep your little 0% and 1%. I’ll back the horse that actually has a chance of winning.
I am not backing horses yet. I want to see the horses actually do a little running. That does not happen until next year. I realize that if these candidates are not in the debates, its difficult to gain much of a following, but as each one leaves, another has a chance to consolidate a new position as an alternative to one of the top three. We need at least three moderates, and three progressives to compete in actual elections so that voters feel like they are actually choosing, and so that we have a deep enough bench that we are not trapped between a compromised or weak candidate candidate and no candidate.

Did they?
They did in Michigan for certain. We can tell that much from the raw vote totals. However, it does not explain the result in Pennsylvania. Trump attracted either conservatives that did not vote for Romney or completely new voters. In Wisconsin, Republican votes were about the same as 2012, but Democrats were way down.

Thank god.

So, Insle, Moulton, Hickenlopper, and now Gillibrand are all gone. Slowly, but surely, the field is narrowing.

I anticipate Williamson, Ryan, Bennet, and de Blasio are not far behind. Bullock and Delaney are egomaniacs, who will stay in this for months longer, despite polling at 0%.

Frankly, anybody who didn't qualify for the September debates is simply on an ego trip by keeping their campaign going.

Yeah, this was a definite occurrence that anyone could've bet on.

Though it is good to see that the affective pool of candidates, is possibly going to be cut in half pretty soon.

Thank god.

Excellent.

The woman is an absolute idiot.

They are certainly not considering the party by staying in this long. Just tossing a Molotov cocktail into the already fractured Democratic Party.

Just go already.

You know who isn't considering the party?

Anyone who has failed to hold it accountable for its massive crimes and frauds in 2016.

You know who isn't considering the country?

Anyone who holds the interests of either criminal gang (aka party) over those of The People.

this is america. they can run if they want to and throw as many molotov cocktails as they want.
what you should be upset with is the DNC clamping down on who the next democratic nominee is going to be.

She kept that title for sure, but woofing down corn dogs in Iowa is hardly the best way of serving the people of NY.

I assume you didn't type this with a straight face. Because she was woofing down corn dogs at the Iowa State Fair, and was in Iowa for a couple of days.

Can you let me know, while she was there, what votes she missed? What bills she was sponsoring that she failed to argue on the Senate floor?

August 8-August 11. That's 3 days.

What was happening in the Senate between August 8 and August 11 that she missed?

FB is a bit slow, but if you scroll down it was 18 days in Iowa, 21 days in Hew Hampshire, 5 days in South Carolina and 2 Days in Nevada. That's 46 days (at least) on the trail.

Kirsten Gillibrand would have been an absolutely fine President, but in the current lineup she just didn't have "it."
Her insinuation that Biden didn't care about women's rights demonstrated she has no idea what people want to hear and will believe.

Pre-Trump she would have been laughed off the stage.

Yup. We have to fight dirty. That’s why I like Kamala. She doesn’t pull any punches.
Yeah, same here.

Harris is someone I wouldn't have normally supported, given her track record as a drug warrior, but she has a strong left on a debate stage. Previously, I would have said she was the best candidate to take the party in a new direction, but Gabbard (who I can't stand) damaged her in the last debate by accurately pointing out her record on marijuana, and it really caught her off guard in a way that didn't look good.

Now it seems Warren is the current rising star that people are interested in, but things can change again, and probably will.

If Biden can beat all of the progressive front runners, so be it - he deserves it. I will crawl over broken glass to vote for any person who isn't a full-on sociopath.

Oh Biden cares about 'women's rights'? Was that when he was swimming nude in front of female SS agents?

Thank god.

Do you really believe they thought they had a chance? Of course not, but it was a chance to get an extra bit of media time and try to make themselves relavent. There are still many, many more that need to stop sucking the air out of the democrat primary campaign. Others will fall pretty quickly after the next debate.

There are only 3 candidates at this point with any chance. Do they have to be named? The rest are just greasing the wheels for the party faithful. A few likley trying to get in line for the VP job.

Man, yeah.

Good, that bitch knocked out Franken. She can sit and spin for all I care.

She had no political instincts as evidenced by her comments on Bill Clinton & Al Franken & need I add she actually
honored the "Mattress Girl" of Columbia by inviting her to Obama's State of the Union address in 2015.
By championing Ms. Sulkowicz Gillibrand participated in a harassment campaign against Paul Nungesser, who, for good reason,
has been found innocent by all investigating bodies.” Columbia 'mattress girl' made rape claim after being scorned.

Apparently one of Mattress Girl’s backers didn't learn from Columbia’s mistake? Not Gillibrand!
Gillibrand 'The Madame Defarge of New York' was at it again with her remarks about the accusations of
sexual assault against Kavanaugh. “I believe Dr. Blasey Ford,” she announced during a press conference
because "she’s telling the truth.” very very bad political instincts!

Nothing much which is another problem. My point, in case you forgot, was that few other occupations allow employees to take 50 (or more) paid days off simply to apply for other employment.

Every candidate in my lifetime has "hit the road" while campaigning. She has continued to serve the citizens of NY same as she always did. Same as all the other currently employed Senators, Congressional reps and Governors are doing, and have always done.

Just like the President gets "50 or more paid days off" to fly (courtesy of the taxpayers) to his own rallies and the rallies of whatever candidates he happens to be supporting as they are running for election - and presumably he will be doing a lot of next year as they have a massive number of Republican Senators up for re-election.

I didn't plan to support Gillibrand, and don't miss her now that she's gone. But to criticize her for doing what every other candidate in history has done is disingenuous.

I am not singling her out in any way - this thread did that since it is about her (lame?) POTUS campaign adventure ending in a fizzle. Introducing whataboutisms may be fun but it does not matter. She can now go back to doing basically the same nothing that she was so busy doing before undertaking her POTUS campaign adventure.

If the Senate is doing nothing, it's Mitch McConnell's fault, not hers.
