I'd have to wait for the opinion of a qualified law professional to know how legally enforceable that letter is, but it's moot now. Even if he wrote a letter admitting that he and Kavanaugh raped a hundred women, including Dr. Ford, the Republican-led Judiciary Committee would just toss it in the garbage.

What is it that you Democrats want? I just dont get it.

She could still report it to the police, but it's doubtful that she will because she knows it won't do any good.

His letter was not a legal affidavit and he didn't take an oath or swear on a bible or anything. He simply wrote a letter to congress telling them that he can't remember the incident and refuses to be questioned about it. And he then disappeared off the face of the earth and only to be recently discovered hiding out in a beach cottage in Delaware. Coincidentally, shortly after HS, Dr. Ford moved to a beach town in Delaware, too. It wouldn't surprise me if it was the same beach...and one that is right across the border from Maryland's eastern shore.

In the interview with WaPo, Ford said that years after the incident, she ran into Judge at a social function and that it was extremely awkward for both of them.

I thought she provided decorum though, keeping the interview on topic and evidential though. The Kavanaugh hearing rolled into an emotive ****-fest, getting away from its fact-finding mission.

Yes, the female prosecutor provided decorum and foiled the Democrats' ploy, evidently they expected the Republicans on the Judiciary Committee to rip into this woman, belittle, humiliate, scare and shame her calling into question her motive (did you know she participated in a protest against Trump)? Instead the Republicans sought and found a competent, politically neutral female sex crimes prosecutor and had her politely walk the witness through her testimony.

I don't think this confirmation process has yielded the midterm election soundbite dividend Democrats evidently are seeking: The effort to stall citing maybe 14,000 pages of Kavanaugh's work at the White House, despite receiving millions more pages of everything else the judge ever wrote, didn't convince me of some conspiracy, that was the simple application of well-established regulations (the Presidential Records Act). Next they spent a whole week granstanding as they denounced Kavanaugh for the standard lefty accusations (racist, homophobic, mysogynist...), that didn't look good to me, the judge seemed very calm and much more intelligent. Then we got Feinstein's ploy, which plainly reeks of trying to derail the process withholding crucual information for months in order to bring it up at the last minute, again calling for delay, and again more delay as the world-travelling witness suddenly acquires a fear of flying. She testified, Democrats knew there wasn't anything to corroborate her accusation, they just hoped the Republicans would look awful ripping into her, but this was avoided with the polite female prosecutor asking the questions. Finally we've got women shouting at poor Jeff Flake in an elevator, they'll give the FBI a week to find something and then confirm the guy; 51-49.

As an electoral ploy, do you think Democrats will get a big boost in the midterms from this?
