Kanye Backlash

How about the flip side where Republicans blasted Kanye over his anti-Bush statements but are loving his pro-Trump statements?

It's going both ways here.

Personally I like Kanye's music but I know I am in minority. His personality though has always been a little extra for me. Either way, he says how he feels and it really doesn't effect my life. He can says want he wants.

He flat out called bush racist of course he was criticized, the funny part though is he supports freedom of thought and is antivictim culture which apparently are now right wing views (shocker) and that's all it takes for the left to call him a racist **** in absurd numbers on twitter. Can't have anyone thinking for themselves, can't have intellectual diversity only diversity of skin color. Who knows maybe you'll get redpilled next once you stop reading CNN all day.

*Raises hand*

Happily listened to Kanye since the early 2000's, though some of my favorite things with him are when he's paired with Jay-Z. Run this Town and Niggas in Paris (along with Stronger) are staples on my work out mixes. Homecoming, Good Life, Touch the Sky, Jesus Walks, All falls down, Can't tell me nothing, Love lockdown; the man's got a number of great hits. That's not even hitting on a classic for anyone in that college/early adult phase and liked to go out dancing in the form of Gold digger.

I've had no issue making fun of the man, just as I did earlier here. He's an absolute crazy person at times and horribly obnoxious more often then not. The Gay Fish slowly became a parody of himself in terms of his outward personality, and he's never been someone I'd ever look at for any insight into anything actually important, but from an entertainment stand point I've enjoyed him for quite some time.

I know it's crazy, but Conservatives can like Rap.

NONE of which changes the fact that you by and large glossed over...understandably so for anyone reading it honestly....where you got on your soap box being all high and mighty about broad generalizations and are now desperately attempting to make an excuse why YOUR use of it is totally okay and reasonable.

OK. You like him. Good for you. That's one.

Awesome-sauce that you can even name songs.

And I am not desperately attempting ****. Most conservatives don't listen to Kanye West.

Well, they didn't until now.

Honestly, and I go to college with a bunch of 18 to 20 year olds (mostly Democrats or Independents), and whenever his name comes up, it's never in a good way from them, either.

So it's not just Cons, but I'd venture to guess - in fact, I'd bet money, that most Conservatives don't listen to him. Well, most of them except for you, of course.

Finished here?

Sure buddy and if some famous country singer came out and completely trashed Trump and called him names, I'm sure conservatives who do support Trump would just let it go and say it's freedom of speech. More like, can't have anyone thinking for themselves. I am not the one on the pills, you thinking it's just the left is the one who needs a wake up call and realize every partisan does it and I don't read CNN. You confused or something?

Since you're still focusing on defending your broad generalization, and still completely skipping past the larger point that you literally made a broad generalization before going on a indignant self-assured lecture about the use of broad generalizations, I'd say so. We can end it here and I'll just accept that despite your laughable attempt of getting on a high horse earlier, you DON'T actually have an issue or think there's a problem with using broad generalizations...so long as, you know, you're the one using it.

Siding with the opposite side of a large segment of your base when it comes to political issues has historically been a way to get your consumer base calling you names and being upset with you, REGARDLESS of sides. The Dixie Chicks are a stellar example of this same kind of asinine stuff happening on the right. The masses of mindless followers aching for an echo chamber on both sides are prone to go forth on their zealous crusades to cleanse anyone in their general realms of interest who dares step out of line.

There's a reason why one of GOAT's most well known quotes is "Republicans buy sneakers too"

Also, while I do enjoy Kanye, when it comes to the Pro Trump vs Anti Trump rappers that have managed to get threads up on this board, I'll take Em over Yeezy every day of the week

I see definitely two different parts of this.

In terms of liking/disliking Kanye the person, the swap in attitude makes sense and isn't even THAT unreasonable. It's kind of understandable and expected that people are more apt to like someone who's saying stuff they agree with then someone saying stuff they don't agree with. Add in the realities of hyperpartisan people...i.e. those who twist almost everything in their life into being political in some fashion...and his political stances are going to matter much more than all the other bat**** obnoxious stuff he's done that I think turn of many rational people from him as a person regardless of political persuasion.

In terms of liking/disliking his music...those people, regardless of side, are just freaking idiot. There's really no good reason or logic to judging someones musical talent or worth based on their political views or statements made outside of their music. However, going back to what I said above about hyper partisan types, sadly there are people who act in this kind of asinine way.

LOL yeah i bet that would be the reaction..

also i have a friend who once squatted 1k in HS

Don't you have some Kanye to listen to?

This would be the reaction like it was last time - "Shut up and sing"

also, who cares?

Most famous singers do trash trump lol, what rock do you live under? the funny thing is how quick the left changes their mind because of pretty basic opinions on freedom of thought for a guy they basically worshiped during the bush years. Oh how far they have regressed. Such diversity and tolerance! ;)

You are not going to convince me this is just a "left" issue. I guarantee if some conservative country singer who bashed Obama but has now declared Hillary her sister would also run down on twitter just the same. It's delusional to pretend otherwise.

Kanye says he loves independent thought, entire left loses their ****! Can't think for yourself Kanye didn't you know??

DRAGON ENERGY BABY

The constant attack of free speech and censorship from the left doesn't align with what you're saying you believe in. If the left actually believed in and open to differing views we wouldn't have to deal with them shutting down public speakers. The outrage over what Kanye said is proof enough where the left stands and it's ****ing hilarious you don't see it.

This has nothing to do with anything that we are talking about.

1. It's not 2016.
2. Kanye is a celebrity.
3. So was Trump.

Take your own advice and stop worshiping celebrities.

I don't worship any celebrities. That would be the left. How about taking your own advice?

It just boggles the mind that you think that. How do you not see that you’re the group that obediently hates whoever you’re told to hate? You even attack your own as RINO’s if they don’t agree with your ideology 100%. It was funny when you and yours obediently hated ketchup and French toast. But then you obediently hated a war hero to benefit a draft dodger. Then you obediently hated President Obama. You hated him so much you let republicans try to sabotage the economy and undermine the recovery. You didn’t care how many Americans suffered and suffered longer because your hate came first. Now look at you, the FBI and the DOJ are your enemy. You literally hate anything and everything you are told to hate. Where do you draw the line? The answer is obviously “nowhere”.

Anyhoo, I thought Kanye was a fool when he said “Bush hates black people”. My opinion hasn’t changed. Yours has again obediently flip flopped.
Besides the fact that everything you just tried to assign ownership is false. Rather than wander off topic i will address your false assumption about how i feel about Kanye. My opinion of him has not changed. Im not a fan of him or his misic nor did i ever claim to be.

My comment was more a prediction of how the left would react to his politically incorrect statement. Admittedly i expected a greater veracity from the left than has manifested so far but still i my comment was not far off the mark. The left jas gotten mich more openky critical of him since he said what he came out of the closet.

So you predicted that liberals would disagree with Kanyes support for several rightwingers?

That is some mad predictive skillz you got there!

sorry trouble, I don't accept your "nuh uh". You said "The left will be forced to make an example of him by destroying him" and I gave examples of you and yours obediently hating whatever or whoever your conservative masters told you to hate. And because of your statement, me pointing out those examples is not off topic. You simply cant respond honestly or intelligently to the facts hence you claim it's off topic.

Fair point. Dixie chicks ruined their career

I was still quite young back then so no, he wasn't for me. My earliest recollection of Kanye was when he had the massive drama queen meltdown after coming on stage at Bonnarro, really late at night after Pearl Jams set. I'm familiar with him now of course and whilst not a fan of his genre, he is a very successful artist. That's not even up for debate. Credit to him for that.

Strange set list that year at Bonnaroo. Kanye's fans and PJ's fans were different. Kanye blew up in the states before he was big in Australia, I'm guessing. I heard his stuff on the radio, but didn't really know who he was until he tried to steal Taylor Swifts award at that VMA show.

I'm sitting here shaking my head at post #48. Really surprised you let that one go.

#48 is another poster, not me.

What are we supposed to do, tell the guy that he can't support Trump?

It's going both ways here.

I like how you phrased that, 'his personality is....extra'. Lol. There's no doubt about that, but just look at the family he married into. They're all a bit extra if you ask me.

because the man is a proven idiot, for many reason:

1. Kanye called himself a God

2. the idiotic thing he did to Taylor Swift

3. calling his child North West

4. he just fired people that had been working years for him for really idiotic reasons

5. he is a megalomaniac

6. He married Kim Kardashian

7. his idiotic views on AIDS (saying "that it was a man-made disease, placed in Africa just like crack was placed in the black community to break up the Black Panthers" and in 2005 he wrote in a song: " And I know the government administered AIDS")

8. when a reporter for entertainment weekly gave his Dark Tour a B+, Kanye responded this way: "What's a B+ mean? "I'm an extremist, its either pass or fail! A+ or F-! You know what, f___ you and the whole f___ing staff!".

9. In 2009, when he designed a 800 dollar to 1140 dollar expensive high top sneaker for Louis Vuitton, Kanye announced that he would change his name to: Martin Louis the King Jr. That is just all kinds of stupid IMHO. And idiotic to want to rename him after MLK to sell his expensive sneakers. That is just bull ****.

10. him posing like Jesus on Rolling Stone magazine

11. him saying that handicapped people should get to their feet at a concert in Sydney, even making snide remarks about a person in a wheelchair

12. he interrupted Beck at the grammy's saying that he does not deserve winning album of the year

13. putting the confederate flag on clothing

14. Kanye does not like losing, and he reminded the public of that when he stage crashed the EMA's in 2006, when he did not win but Justice v. Simian won for "We are Your friends".

15. he is a sore loser

The man is just a total loser idiot, pure and simple.
Its just interesting yo me how more freely people on the left with saying that now he has came out as a trumpper

Umm, people all over have been criticizing Kanye for those things for years now.

Or did you think Mr King knows about those things because he heard from rightwingers? :lamo

Nope I predicted they would not only declare they disagree but also denigrate him. Admittedly I thought it was gonna be harsher than it has been and I'm glad it's not and I hope it didn't get that way but still the left has been all about attacking him rather than his opinion
