WASHINGTON (AP) — A Louisiana-based federal judge’s order broadly limiting executive branch communications with social media companies could cause “grave harm” by preventing the government from “engaging in a vast range of lawful and responsible conduct,” Biden administration attorneys said in a motion filed Thursday with a federal appeals court.

The request to stay the order was the administration’s first substantive response to a July 4 ruling by U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty in Monroe.

Doughty, a conservative nominated to the federal bench by former President Donald Trump, issued an injunction Tuesday blocking multiple government agencies and administration officials from meeting with or contacting social media companies for the purpose of “encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner the removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech.”

The order also prohibits the agencies and officials from pressuring social media companies “in any manner” to try to suppress posts, raising questions about what officials could even say in public forums.

A judge on Tuesday prohibited several federal agencies and officials of the Biden administration from working with social media companies about “protected speech,” a decision called “a blow to censorship” by one of the Republican officials whose lawsuit prompted the ruling.

This all began under Obama with the illegal seizure of information from Americans by the NSA and the willingness of corporations to violate the rights of every American by willingly giving this information illegally to the government. Naturally, it continues under Biden and includes the deliberate illegal censorship of Americans by government through their corporate puppets. Once again demonstrating how Democrats spit on the US Constitution daily and do not think any one has any rights whatsoever so they have absolutely no problem violating those constitutionally-protected rights.

This is what has made the Democratic Party the most serious threat the US and the American people has ever faced.

Not only personal information, but Bank of America was caught giving gun purchase info to the FBI without even a warrant. I've never read a company's privacy policy that said they would freely cooperate PROACTIVELY with LE. That's not a privacy policy that anyone I know would agree with.

The problem is that the federal government is not the arbiter as to what is a "lie", despite the fact that far too many in our government lie quite often.

'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.'

It never was. Nobody was forced to say or not say anything.

I think the government trying to protect its citizenry is just fine.

The feds have access to all sorts of foreign info and their sources that can be helpful to social media sites that don't want to be misinformation dumping grounds.
