If I'm not mistaken but wasn't Cicero eventually beheaded? Nevertheless, Brennan is scared, especially after Trump's bold tweet this afternoon. He, Comey, McCabe, and Lynch are going to be facing indictment and arrest. Sessions wants to prove he is not a useless wimp. This is his chance.

Good God. Cicero has been one of the most widely quoted philosophers since the dawn of The Enlightenment. But maybe you have to read in order to know that.

Under certain circumstance, maybe - like voting - if it comes down to only one of two choices. I do that now.

However, I don't think that non-partisans are forced, or will be forced, to make a permanent choice, or to declare affiliation with one of the two major parties. We see that now, where neither of the two major parties can even get 1/3rd of the voting age Americans to declare themselves as a member of, or even identify as, a member of one the two major parties, and almost half of the public has declared themselves as Independents.

i remember an anocdotal story about a roman diplomat negotiating with the ruling government of Carthage at the beginning of one of the Punnic wars, i am not sure which one though. the roman diplomat grabbed two folds of his tunic and said "one side is peace, the other is other war, it does not matter to us which one you pick."

i believe this was prior to the beginning of the third and final punic war, where Rome was looking for any reason to declare war and destroy carthage. if it was prior to the third war, i think that the roman diplomat was saying that the carthiginians would suffer no matter if they chose a painful peace or a distructive war.

Good analogy.

When you are in forced servitude, it matters not if you are a willing participant, with the sole exception of the possible length of time you may have to endure it. Revolt and insurrection, although dangerous in the short term, may be your only path to peace. But as the Roman Ambassador is reported to have calmly stated in the Carthaginian Senate, with a smile on his face - it matters not to me.
