Somebody forgot to tell the dictionary people that only the Bureau of Labor Statistics decides what is or is not a job because they left them completely out of the definition.....
I'm sorry are you really suggesting that when counting jobs in an economy all those definitions in the dictionary entry are applicable? Like, nose jobs?
From 1984 to 1994 military were included in total employed (from the current population survey) but all that did was raise the employment level and lower the UE rate on a consistant basis. Military are excluded because they're not part of the labor market...there's no freedom of entry/exit and numbers are not determined by market factors.
