It is perfectly consistent to say that Comey answered in the negative on obstruction before Congress, because like we already covered, planning a crime and doing a crime are equally illegal.

Like I said earlier interfering with the DoJ in order to prevent a prosecution is obstruction of justice.

Asking the FBI director to let one of your friends go is obstruction. And firing your FBI director with corrupt intent is obstruction. Sorry your having a tough time with that.

Yes....I'm aware that Comey has changed his tune from when he was testifying before Congress and has become even more political than what he was before.

The Director, FBI can classify material or choose not to classify material. Comey did not classify his personal notes and they were not classified at the point in time they were passed on to an intermediary who passed them on to the media.

As for other topics of discussion in this thread:
I have no problem with Comey no longer being Director. IMO, the man has a god complex. Unfettered access to material and Director level authority combined with a god complex is a nasty combination. Remember, Comey got himself all the way down the rathole mainly because of the airport tarmac brief encounter between Bill Clinton and then AG Loretta Lynch, probably we will ultimately find, one of the most innocuous meetings in the history of American politics. But so import and so SCARY to Jim Comey that he could neither bring himself to ask Lynch about the tarmac encounter nor bring Lynch in on his decisions regarding breaking FBI protocol and publicly disclosing the state of the HRC email investigation within days of the actual election! All of that was based on Comey's assumptions that:
- the Lynch and Bill encounter on the tarmac was nefarious. For all we know and for all Comey knew Billy Boy might have just had the hots for her
- he [Comey] could neither simply ask Lynch about the meeting if he was concerned about it (Too SCARY for Mr god complex) nor was he willing to trust her enough to inform her of his intention to break protocol and publicly disclose the state of the HRC email investigation. Not informing Lynch of his intention to break FBI protocol was YOU GUESSED IT, another break with protocol
- finally if that was not all bad enough, Comey apparently assumed that he could divine the result of the coming 2016 election. That he James Comey was suddenly now a seasoned polling expert that could read the tea leaves. He then determined that he had to jump through all these hoops to "protect the agency" from what would be a vindictive President HRC post the election. But SHE DIDN"T WIN! Nicely done Jimmy boy....nicely done you idiot.

So in my estimation, Comey did not deserve to be Director and if we ever put another Comey/J Edgar Hoover type in charge of the FBI, we need our heads examined.

I should also add that Rod Rosenstein has proven to have a yellow streak up his back a mile wide and HE should never have been Asst AG. He made more nervous nellie decisions in one month than you would have believed possible in years. Thank you for bringing on a good choice for Special Counsel though I think your Charging Memo to Mueller was crap on toast. But now, glad you are going. Get the hell out and don't let the door hit you in the rear end. You're a yellow skunk and I have as little use for you as I have for Barr.

As for Wrey farming out "all investigations" i would like to see the particulars on that decision before I unilaterally claim that idea as "wonderful". IMO there is a better argument for separating counter-intelligence and counter-espionage operations into a separate [new] agency separate from criminal investigations (left with the FBI) than there is in "farming out" investigations.

If Comey is innocent he should have no problem...same as Trump....but lets face it...everyone reading this except for the TDS sufferers know Comey and Brennan are guilty as sin. Prediction: Comey will begin to throw brennan under the bus if he is guilty.

One statement was before congressional testimony, close in time to the incident, and the other was much later, to no one important.
