Magic Johnson has been named president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Lakers, it was announced today.

In addition, general manager Mitch Kupchak has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately, and Jim Buss will no longer hold his role as executive vice president of basketball operations

I have been waiting years for this, but Magic Johnson? I dont know how I feel bout that. Has anyone ever claimed that he has a great basketball mind?

He is a good businessman, team builder, and community organizer, but that does not mean that he can put together a great basketball team. He has also been a long time critic of Jim, I wonder how much that played into picking him.

Me neither, but I know how successful Kupchak has been lately...
 
They hired a new GM that was an NBA agent for many stars.

I think this was long overdue. Jim Buss is a loser.
