Why would he bring up the burning of the White House- an event that happened hundreds of years ago? Seems strange to me.

I think he's jealous because Trudeau is younger, handsomer and smarter.

I will go with it was a joke, because it was brought up during a discussion regarding tariffs and national security

I dislike Trump but even he is not that idiotic

I missed this particular piece of stupidity. Does Trump think Canadians burned the White House?

Canadians think as much. I expect 8 out of 10 Canadians who know about the war of 1812, will generally say Canadian burned it down (yes I know Canada was not a nation.

I think he thinks Trudeau is another thing Obama did but he can't figure out how to repeal him.

By using the term “national security” the president has much wider powers and avoids having to run everything through congress.

So Obama gives executive orders to avoid Congress, conservatives start screaming.

Trump declares national security concerns to avoid Congress... crickets...

It seems inevitable that we'll soon be at war with Canada.

A little reminder from our President to the Canadians that they can stink after using the bathroom as well. In other words these people can be anti American as well in the past. Along with Mexico I'm glad our President has made good decisions in dealing with the two countries.
