Is the San Francisco Sh*tuation Out of Control?

I'm not used to it and spent a week there recently and it was nothing like the horror stories. Don't try to tell others what they saw or experienced. If you want to share YOUR horror stories, tell us where you stayed, where you went, where you observed these horrible conditions. I walked miles, biked miles, drove to dinner way outside the traditional 'tourist' areas and didn't see it, experience it. Dealing with the homeless in SF was less of an issue than going downtown in Knoxville for dinner then walk a few blocks to a show at the Tennessee Theater.

Homeless people exist everywhere. They concentrate in cities for good reasons. The local shelter is just a mile from our central district with $million condos and our best restaurants downtown, and many live near the area where several interstates and major local roads cross in overpasses. If you come to Knoxville, you won't leave calling it a ****hole, but you will encounter homeless, drug addicts, because that's part of life in America.

I was downtown, stayed at the Pan Pacific hotel for several says. We had a showing of automation equipment at the nearby convention center. When it rained lightly...

The smell...

I was too and walked all over that area, and that's not what I saw or smelled. YMMV, so stick to your own experiences. FWIW, you know what also pees on the street in every city? Dogs! It's true! And in my area we saw lots of them being walked outside to PEE ON THE STREET by their owners. Sometimes they allow the dogs to crap on the streets and don't clean it up. I did see that in person...

So you agree there was pee that could be smelled.
Thank-you.

Sound like to me, people need to stop relying on government, get their collective crap together, work hard, and fend for themselves.

Many homeless had bad luck and want to lift them, selves up. Too many just let Uncle Sam take care of them and have given up on self determination.

Lots are mentally ill, which if they had any get up and go they'd just get over, you know, bootstraps! Veterans make up a large share around here.

Well, "pee that could be smelled" in a city is something about 100% of visitors to any city can reasonably claim, depending on where they went and how far they walked. It's like claiming to smell garbage, or grease or exhaust fumes.

I am really happy to hear that.

The last time I was in Frisco was in the 1950s! I remember Nob Hill (where the hotel was in which we stayed), the cable cars, Chinatown, the zoo, and a visit to the airport. We returned home to Los Angeles aboard the overnight "Lark" sleeper train.

That's how I want to remember Frisco.

The recent news reports coming out of your city are appalling.

I am glad to know that -- if I understand you correctly -- most people still lead pleasant lives and are not unduly impacted by the homeless problem.

Have a nice weekend!

I might suggest that you broaden your news sources because the SF bashing is only coming from one place. I hope you've had a nice weekend as well.

I guess Chicago isn't cool to rip on anymore.

See, this is how you work the conversation when you're supporting a crook who is going through an impeachment. Just pick a Dem city and talk about anything.

It works with the rubes ever time.

This is what happens when the left takes over.

You forgot to add that the median home listing was $1.3 million.

They expect you to pay top dollar in return for ****.

Uncle Sam is taking care of them?
