what the hell you been smokin ...better leave those drugs alone boss!!!! I am going to keep this very simple so even a trump supporter can understand!!!!
the republican party has been in control of the senate / house and White house that is all sections of Government for the last 2 years!!! why the hell did you not get funding for the wall then!!!!you did not need any democrats !!!! Trump knows his base is so stupid they would believe anything he says. Trump said on tv he takes responsibility ...he changed his mind on talking responsibility because it was not cute so now its the dems fault Wow LOL

It is not the point of the money at all. The candidate that was donald trump said clearly, repeatedly that he was going to build a wall and mexico would pay for it. If you were my neighbor and I told you I just bought this new car and you're going to pay for it. What do you think your reaction would be? President trump's campaign promise to his base means nothing to me other than he lied to his base. For telling that lie and then demanding the democrats give him billions or he's going to shut down the government is a terrorist kind of move, something a kidnapper would do. I'll hold the country hostage if you don't pay. So he told us all in plain english that everyone could understand he clearly claimed he would take the mantle for shutting down the government and not blame the democrats. We all know this so if we as a nation crumble to his demands, what's gonna happen when the democrats take control and do the same thing to republicans, like repealing the second amendment? Think before you leap folks.

And Mexico will pay for it - by the better deal we have that replaces NAFTA. By stopping the $26BILLION plus they send home every year. By saving on the $54BILLION spent on illegal immigration every year. You can stay stuck on semantics, I'll deal with the reality of what we will gain by stopping a large part of illegal immigration. And this doesn't even touch on violent crime

The fact that it didn't happen before makes it ok for the dems to keep the shutdown going while they fight for open borders? I don't care, I want border security and if the fight for Americans is happening now, fine.

And then trump will demand an end to House oversight actions or he’ll hold 800,000 federal employees hostage again, knowing it will work.

“Understand this: if Trump gets away with shutting down the government to get what he wants, he will do this again going forward. He *will* continue to hold workers hostage to his demands.”

-Nancy Pelosi, spelling out what should be brutally obvious to everyone.

It's the Trump Shutdown. He already owned it.

He could end it immediately by reopening the government and negotiating reasonably. He walked out of meetings twice. He has threatened to call it an emergency and build his wall anyway. It is said he doesn't want to do that, because he may set a precedent for democratic presidents to follow.

His promise to his base was mexico was paying, how quickly the republicans seem to forget that. This is the president's fault for not keeping his promise to his base and ann and rush forced his hand to do something. That something was to claim he would shut down the government if he didn't get his funding for his wall and he wouldn't blame democrats. With that said it is not the fault of everyone. It is the fault of trump for shutting down the government and mcconnell for not bringing a vote to the floor and who cares what the president says he will or won't sign. Put it in front of him and let him make the decision.

Don't take what he said so literally!

Alright, so the US government has shutdown over 5 billion dollars that the democratic party and the "establishment" refuses to grant the US government to spend on the Mexico border. Considering the US government annual spending of 2500 billion dollars per year, of which 5 billion is barely 0.2%, is this a reasonable reason for the democratic party in the US to refuse the spending of 5 billion and to cause the ongoing government shutdown? 5 billion is not even 1% of what the US spends on defence each year. If the demoratic party said yes to the 5 billion spending, the government shutdown would be over immediately. Could they do it? Are there good enough reasons not to do it?

They are both responsible.

Both sides are responsible. Doesn't matter who said that they would own it. Doesn't matter which side is blaming who. It takes two to tango. Both sides could have stopped this from happening in the first place. Both sides could end it RIGHT NOW.

So, if a Democratic autocrat were to do the same thing over "gun control" (33 day shutdown and counting) would you blame both sides?

NO ****** WAY IN HELL you would.

Will it take two to tango when he shuts it down again, and again, and again, and again, and again.
You couldn't possibly think he will forswear using a shutdown ever again once he discovers that the tactic works.

That's like saying Mommy caught her fourteen year old son whacking off and he swore he'd never do it again, and you damn well know it.
Nope, this STOPS right NOW, and if it takes a world of pain to MAKE HIM STOP and to force the Mitch McConnell wing to never do it again, it will be worth the price paid, and by the way, just so you know, there will be blood over this even after the government finally reopens, heads will roll and they will be Republican heads.

The government will be reopened and it shall STAY OPEN otherwise go pound sand for eternity, and even then, one way or the other, this nonsense will be brought to a screeching halt.

You taught us well, you taught us to NEVER CAVE AGAIN.
Now fill your cup and drink deeply, as I know you will.

No. Donald Trump is 100% responsible for the shutdown. He's the one that made the unrealistic promise and refuses to back down on it.

Don't take what he said so literally!

I didn't, never thought there would be a wall, it's his base that is screaming about the wall. However, don't take him literally, why not? Should I believe what the president says or dismiss what he says if I don't take him literally.

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” was Trump at his best, in his element annoying Mrs. Clinton
& the main stream media yet those like you insist on taking him literally all the time! So the less humorous group sensed that that Trumpian tidbit is evidence of collusion.

Do you always see 'Dragons in the field' when there are none there?

Ok, I concede. I'll do what the right does, when our president says something I'll just presume he's lying and not to expect him to do what he's saying he's gonna' do.

Another shutdown poll Trump loses.

I'm not sure, but I do know that the democrats just come of as petty. In general it seems it's ONLY a political powerstruggle for them and that they have no interest in what is best for the nation.
They just try to make everything as difficult as possible and then display their nasty smirks to everyone as they so it.

Politics is ofcourse petty in general, but I think few things can beat the democratic party right now, It's downright corruption and fraud.

Unrealistic how? He is just asking for 5 billion, it's nothing of the US annual budget. Let's say the wall cost 200 billion and not 50 billion, that's still less than 10% of the annual federal budget.

I'm not a supporter of anything in politics or any individual, just freedom, reason and real democracy with real and good solutions.

But I think Trump dragged these idiots out in front of everyone just to show how grotesque they really are. They ONLY care about power, **** the US, **** the people and **** everything else.

I don't know what the world is coming to. However, Tweety said that Mexico would pay for the wall. That was a lie, just like most other things that he says.

Pay doesn't mean up front, it just means pay (perhaps in the very end even).

ah, so once Mexico finally cuts the check, Trump will repay the money he took from taxpayers that he said wouldn't be necessary?

Sure, bottom line, yes.

Is that what politics has become these days?

Of course not, as it's apparently become some sort of interdepartmental pissing contest.

I'd have more sympathy for one side over the other, if it didn't boil down to this almost every month.

Yes, they should. There was bipartisan support in 2006 - In 2006, the Secure Fence Act passed with bipartisan support requiring the construction of physical barriers along 700 miles of the nearly 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border. Sixty-four Democrats voted the measure in the House and 26 in the Senate.- and 2013. The only difference is the amount requested is smaller, and the problem at the border is bigger.

A fence and a wall are two very different things. And the problem at the border has been getting smaller over time, not bigger.

Plus it has been shown that a border wall will likely do very little to significantly control entry or help at all. Most drugs come through official checkpoints or tunnels or other means, not over the unsecured borders. Most people come into our country legally and illegally stay.

And Democrats have put up several bills to provide more money for border security and things that have been shown to work, but are not a wall.

You are just believing democrat hype. The experts, the border patrol agents gave the government a list of things they needed to help stop illegal traffic on the border and they said a wall. The dems say it doesn't work but they didn't ask the border patrol. Its' all political.
