Re: Is paying your taxes Patriotic?
You apparently have no respect for the American university system which bestows Bachelors and Masters and even Doctorate degrees upon millions of teachers across the land only after they have met and satisfied the rigorous requirements established by those institutions of higher learning.
That is sad.
You're going to have to sell that line to someone who isn't
in the American university system. I'm wrapping up a masters now and it's embarrassing, the lack of intellectual rigor. Daily I have to restrain myself from tearing at some of my idiot classmates, who nonetheless will pass and go on to get their degrees. My harder undergrad classes were more difficult (though admittedly I went to a decent private undergrad school, and am now at a "public"). I have multiple friends as well who have been through their Education Masters in the last 5 years, and they were even more embarrassed. One of them who is currently in his second year is a law school grad. Apparently he bothers to do the little bit of reading assigned, and therefore is ahead of the vast majority of his classmates.
Education majors typically are the lowest-performing students, and Education programs are the ones that do the most grade-inflation. So long as you can master the art of managing to show up to class you are halfway there. Yeah, the Education field has
definitely mistaken credentials for education and competence over the past couple of decades.
What is
sad is that we have allowed mediocrity to become the standard and sub-mediocrity to become acceptable in one of our most critical fields of endeavor. What is
sad is that we have lowered academic standards in order to make it easier on today's students; who have been trained not to think but to repeat mush. What is
sad is that we have taught a generation of children that they will get a trophy so long as they show up, and that they deserve to have success handed to them, and that they will all be treated special, like snowflakes. What is
sad is to watch the failures of the system perpetuate themselves. What is
sad is to watch the American education system degrade, captured by a moribound and stultified governing parasite class, determined to do
anything, with
any amount of other people's money to avoid being subjected to the demands of reality.
