Yes, in that post the poster was advocating for the murders of millions of innocents. I think after being pressed he backed off to Felis' position: just leadership.

But, the original post was clear as a whistle and it was disgusting and hopefully representative of a tiny minority opinion among us Americans. However, the Trump years have shaken my certainty of the size of that minority.

Is the Orange Oaf hellbent on starting an armed conflict with the second strongest armed forces in that region? And then I am not talking about the legality of it, if Iran would do something to that to a US general it would be a certain act of war.

And to put oil on the fire, the response of the Orange Oaf is the US flag.

Look I hate Iran and everything it stands for with their religious extremism, but actively killing their leaders is a surefire way to start a war. Is this a way to divert attention from his US problems with the impeachment and does he think starting a war in an election year would be a smart election plan?

It may have been a good decision in 2004 to not change leadership during a war with George W. Bush but Trump is no Bush. The man has a streak of lack of self control and a habit of making very bad decisions.

This unnecessary escalation will not sit well with Iraq, Syria, Russia and maybe even China who all are either friendly with Iran or who have a vested interest in not starting a war in that region.

All in all, not a smart of sound move IMHO. Hopefully in both countries moderate voices and tactics will prevail.

I would say that the Iranian government has been in a low level state of war with us for years, so, that would suggest they would indeed see this act as a continuation of that.

Well, I wouldn't suggest a career in the State or Defense Departments, then .

Removing our embassy would have been a huge self-inflicted loss for the U.S., a huge win for Iran, and would have taught them that they could remove us at will from our relationship with countries they sought more control over by attacking our embassies there. The primary intent of this action wasnt to be calming, but rather to ensure that they learned a very different lesson regarding our likely future reaction to any other attacks on US facilities and personnel.

Assassinations of foreign government officials have been illegal in the United States since President Ford issued Executive Order 11905 in 1976. That EO was reaffirmed by both the Carter and reluctantly by the Reagan Administration EOs. That is why the CIA was charged with conducting deniable clandestine assassinations with drones for the last 20 years or so. But this time the drone strike which killed many Iranian government officials and security personnel was admittedly ordered by the President, carried out by the Pentagon and executed by US military drone operators. The US President and senior US military brass have broken US law and should be legally liable for these killings both criminally and civilly. It is a dark day when the US Military openly operates as assassins instead of the clandestine secret services. So here's another article of impeachment for the House to investigate.

Technically, the US can do a cheap and quick war with Iran - quickly bomb it into Stone Age and wait for new leadership to emerge. If we don’t like that leadership - repeat.
