Iraqi TV Reports Strike Kills Powerful Iranian Revolutionary Guard Commander

Yeah, didn't think you could.

You're disqualifying 99% of people from taking a political position based on life qualifications you set for them. And guess whose position that marginalization serves? Yours. That's why it's fascist. You're arbitrarily marginalizing political opponents.

Iran has bags and bags of SS-N-22 Sunfire missles from Russia, plus thousands of SAMs. 18 years worth of them, all spread on trucks.

Yeah, a tough threat to our Navy would be dozens and dozens of small, fast boats with missiles in fairly high seas. Very hard to defend against. I believe they have at least one diesel submarine. Diesel subs can be the hardest to detect. So we won't want to sail too close to their shores.

Using nukes in that region would be the dumbest thing we could possibly do, even if we stayed up all night trying to think of dumber things.

That’s not for you to decide. 5-8 kt yield isn’t that bad.
Just admit that it was a nice shot and Trump did a very good job here.

Oh, I have no complaints about how the gag went down. Perfect timing. But I would say the theater commander had more to do with that.

Nation building.

Nooooo!
I think many people here are tired of the first attempt that was done in Iraq. Nation building is just a financial black hole. Ef dat sh!t!

If the Iranian regime gets nukes, Iran will become like North Korea. No info in, no info out. The totalitarian theocracy will lock that place down like medieval mother****ers. Iranians, like North Koreans, will spend generations in darkness. Our Persian brothers deserve better. It's time they're free, before it's too late.

I asked you for a source that confirms your definition. Instead you just repeat your assertion. That only works if you are a recognized authority on definitions of English language words. I think you're not that. (No offense.) So...still waiting!

I don't marginalize opposing political positions based on arbitrary life qualifications that I set. That's better.

I gotta ask, is this the "grateful, American flag-waving Iraqis, part II?

Last time we intimately involved ourselves in Iranian politics, we backed a brutal dictator. That led to the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and the installation of religious fanatics as their leaders. We invaded Iraq in 2003 and were told that the locals were going to welcome us as liberators.
Vice President Dick CHENEY, a few weeks before the invasion: "Now, I think things have gotten so bad inside Iraq, from the standpoint of the Iraqi people, my belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators."

Somehow I can't get really excited with discussions of how the US is going to bring ponies and donuts to Tehran.

Sometime not long before Saddam's removal, US policy in the Mideast changed from stagnation via destabilization to nation building. We figured out that trashing a place and playing both sides resulted in stagnation but that didn't improve the situation for the region, the world or us.

We can't go back forty years and say, "but if it's like that!" It's not forty years ago.

It gets better with practice.

Nation building, much like your thinking, never gets better with practice. Iraq (shi'a Muslim majority) is still in shambles 16 years after we invaded. CBS recently ran a story about Iraqis who hate American soldiers so much, they refer to our servicemen in Iraq as 'Jews'. I've never believed that you want what's best for your 'persian brothers'- the goal is to spread as much instability and chaos as possible, in order that our #1 ally has less headaches to deal with.

Do share your evidence with us. I'd love to feel better about this.

First, let's note that Afghanistan has seventy women elected to provincial office and women have run for national office. Before the war, women were not allowed to learn to read. The social progress has been rapid and someday the women of Afghanistan might win the war against terror there. We've empowered them and they've got a shot.

But we can put that aside, just wanted to help you feel better. Now, on to Iraq. The number one major mistake we made was disqualifying all Baathist from office and social infrastructure position (police, judicial, etc). We underestimated the damage Saddam had done to Iraqi social infrastructure. Dictators, especially genocidal ones, create power vacuums that are exposed when they leave power by whatever means. But it was more complete than estimated. After we fired all the Baathist from offices, we looked around the room to see what remained to choose from. To our surprise, no one remained. The room was empty. Well, now wtf were we gonna do. It wasn't easy.

This time, we leave a skeletal structure in place to keep things functioning. We have the people choose the best of the worst and the people place them into positions so that a functioning system exists to get started.

Powerful, but apparently not missile proof.

Your cell phone and internet browser will get ya in hot water every time. ;)

If I was a terrorist general, I'd use a proxy. And I'd have body doubles. And a mini-me.

And sharks with fricken lasers on thier heads....

Sounds like a lot of work.....I'm too lazy to be a terrorist.

And can I just say, I hated the climate in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Generals can have sharks with lasers hats. And a jet pack.

Missiles coming? Shark laser hat *boom* down goes the first volley. Jet pack *pow* I'm out of there. Easy.
