I believe too that there is discrimination against furries. On some sites you either get ignored or get thrown off the site when people find out you're a furry. In this age, discrimination of any sort should be viewed as wrong.

Crying "discrimination" is an insult to people who are actually discriminated against. You chose to wear a silly costume as an adult. Some people view that as immature behavior. The thing is though is that you can change your clothes while you cannot change your race. People with disablities cannot just take off their disability like you can. There is no comparison. Your position is insulting and childish.

People will always make fun of adults who dress up in silly costumes and act as if they are actually the character that they chose..

I wonder if furry will be accepted one day in the nerd/geek community.

I remember when i was growing up and would get beat up or bullied for reading books with a dragon or wizard on the cover or for painting minatures.

But now those people who used to pick on me for liking stuff like Dragonlance because they felt it was 'weird" are now into stuff like dungeons and dragons when 20 or 30 years ago they wouldn't even be into it and are calling themselves nerds.

Same with video games, back in the 1980's i remember if you said you played video games, you would be told to get a life. But now everyone is into video games. I think we should do this test to those who claim to be nerds nowadays, do you know what "Up,Up,Down,Down,Left,Right,Left,Right,B,A,B,A,Start" means? I know gatekeeping is bad, but i don't think many who call themselves nerds nowadays were nerds back in in the 80's when being a nerd would get someone beat up,bullied or given a wedgie.

I heard that one time that anime fans were viewed as mostly being about tentacle porn and such and that to be labeled a Otaku was a insult, But now being a anime fan has become mainstream.

Probably along the same principles at least. Furries certainly have found a place among the kink community, even if it is in a similar manner that gender identity found a place among the sexual orientation community.
