If we make guns illegal

Plenty of people explain the logistics of various gun laws. Hearing it from someone that happens to be socially progressive will not change anything.

Respect for the socially natural right to self defense is personal.

It makes plenty sense. Extorting money from "legalized" sellers is a lot more work than just selling stuff themselves. Your average good would really rather not put in the effort

No, nothing will change because the firearm is an integral part of the American psyche. For better or worse, cultural perceptions are set in stone.

But Obama is secretly the Anti Christ! He was supposed to take everyone's gun!

let me ask you a question. if obama had the votes in congress (he didn't) and someone presented him with another "assault weapon ban" do you think he would have signed it-as Bill Clinton did 20 years prior?

Definitely does make plenty sense. Which one involves more work? Which one is more likely to lead to the cops being called?

Who wants to make firearms illegal? You brought up the UK and such, but that is painting with a broad brush and misleading. Not all firearms are illegal in the UK. Rifles, shotguns, etc. are still legal there. They simply have a better process for obtaining one. Most of you that make pro gun threads make them vague on purpose to mislead people.

my default position is freedom and that shouldn't be removed without the government meeting some pretty hefty burdens of proof

except you cannot own semi auto or pump shotguns or semi auto rifles in Britain and all handguns are banned. its basically a scheme to disarm most people of modest means
Media_Truth and Bucky are on record wanting a complete ban on guns, there are others
 
This might sound dumb but what if we put a limit on the number of bullets you can have based on the number of guns you have?

If you have 1 gun, you can have 100 bullets.
If you have 2 guns then you can have 90 bullets.
If you have 3 guns then you can have 80 bullets.

If we do that then people who collect guns for display can have some bullets but they won't have enough bullets to be a threat to anybody.

You are 100% correct. They do have a ban on semi automatic weapons. Most handguns are just that and there are posters who want to see firearms as a whole illegal. However, the OP makes it seem like all guns are illegal in those countries and you cannot obtain one. I'm simply pointing out the facts and his/her misleading statements.
