The largest hybrid car maker, is not Toyota, its a Chinese company as well. Public transit ridership is much, much higher in China than it is here. All those little motorcycles and scooters you see in China, they aren't gas, 90% are electric.

There are solar panels everywhere there. You see them on any building suitable for solar. The largest wind farm in the world, it's the Gansu wind farm in China. In the United States we get 15% of our energy from renewables. In China they get 38% of their energy from renewables. The country is covered in high speed electric trains.

The point is that in terms of energy efficiency and green infrastructure, China isn't just ahead of the United States, it's miles ahead of the United States. Which is why the average Chinese citizen has less than half the carbon emissions of the average American. In fact, China is the most carbon efficient large economy on earth. They are the biggest emitter because they have over 4 times our population, yet the average Chinese citizen riding a subway to work, drying their clothes on a rack on their balcony, working in an office covered with solar panels, showering with water heated with solar heaters, walking more in a week than most Americans will in 6 months.... gets to hear ignorant Americans that live in a 3000 square foot plus home, spend hundreds a month just on utilities, drive a SUV that gets 20 mpg on its best day - with a long commute just so they can get a bigger house..... they get to listen to Americans like that tell them that they are the ones that need to do more.
