A lady friend of mine said its because his supporters think it's normal

Actually this has little to do with coal mines. As each day dawns, I swear, we see more and more how Trump knows less and less. He is expressing, or trying to do is reflect philosophical reasoning from the 16th century. Which in short is an exercise in why some men are content working in the hay field, and some men have to conquer empires.
But, once again, what we're really seeing is the real Trump, the man whose every thought is about Trump and his empty pit of a need for approval. He is so self involved I doubt he realizes the insult he's making to miners, but to him he is stating the obvious: That Donald Trump is genius mixed with ambition and perfect in every way.
He's like a television set hurling commercials at you; if everyone simply unplugged it and went about their lives I suspect he would blow his brains out.
One thing I will give Trump. He never has hidden what he is. He was this way all during the campaign and he hasn't changed. This is just fine with a lot of Americans. Not me, but I have long accepted the fact that a lot of my fellow citizens are just plain nuts.
You mean, you don't think he is right? That everyone knows this? Would you prefer he lie?

I would prefer he stopped boasting and making false claims and actually got down to the management of the country. Since the primaries there hasn't been ONE DAY without some Trump-based controversy in the news, he's either firing investigators, members of his inner staff, or trying to pull his foot out of his mouth as a racist....16 days in New Jersey on a "working vacation" with all aids present at his golf course and all he could come back with was a "statement on Afghanistan which said nothing, and a pre-scripted speech written by some patriotic grade six student.
"Love" my ass.
The point is he's still running for office and nobody has the first clue what he will do in Afghanistan. But he HAS succeeded in getting the topic off North Korea, Special investigations and the rest of the **** he's tracked into the Oval Office
Maybe I see Americans at their best, when touring my country. I can say without doubt that I have seldom encountered an American who wasn't friendly, abreast of the times, informed and maybe a little too into "security" and heavy handed policing, but generally fine people one on one.
But then I see Trump, his outright hostility to anything not him, his racism and the over-the-top response to his most dangerous pronouncements, his support of armed and armored racists in streets and I have to wonder...and then there are his supporters, well labeled as "deplorables".
Maybe there's two Americas, maybe the insanity goes away north of the 49th. As individuals Americans are our favorite people, we hid your diplomats, housed stranded fliers in 9-11, our firefighters were the first foreign boots on the ground at Ground Zero. We have fought shoulder to shoulder in four wars, we have shed blood for each other.
The day of the beginning of talks on NAFTA II the Canadian delegation showed a video of Mexican, American and Canadians side-by-side fighting the largest fires this world may have ever seen [even I can't imagine 1.3 million hectares in one fire. As those individuals we love you.
As neighbors, we wish you would move.

Trump was a democrat back in 1990. So that explains his contempt for the working man
given how he has alienated congress running the country is pretty much out of the question.

Listening to some "experts" following the Arizona speech. He attacked both Senators, one of them John McCain who is fighting brain cancer. The reaction is growing in Republican ranks, he **** in his own bed with that.
He also failed to mention in grief the 12 sailors who lost their lives last week in naval collisions, one of them the USS McClain.
And then has the gall to claim he's healing the country. My bet is that by the end of summer he will have lost all support in the senate and will be in a war with them.
You will always have my gratitude, and the gratitude of all Americans, for hiding our diplomats during the Iranian Revolution.
I have friends who voted for Trump. My daughter's in-laws are Trump supporters, though my son-in-law is certainly not. We all live together cheek by jowl, and get along fairly well, for the most part. I'm afraid you're stuck with us since we can't move. Try to appreciate the entertainment value. That's what's getting me through these 4 years.
I would imagine that most miners would rather their children not end up in the mine too if they have a choice. They may not talk about it, but most parents do want their children to live better lives.
Now, here is my question for you: Since the democrats are not likely to pick up the support of Trump voters, is this going to be a 24/7-365 astroturf campaign to depress GOP turnout with the hope that will be enough? If so, might I suggest you come up with better material, because an almost 30 year old quote, even if true, really isn't likely to get the job done.
Believe me, the line was written for the humor of it. And thank you for your gratitude, the Canadian ambassador still lives with a death threat over his head, with the same level security as the prime minister.
My proudest moment as a Canadian was at the beginning of 9-11. The airwaves were filled with stories of people saying the US deserved it...amid that two troops of firefighters, one from the Toronto and one from Montreal quietly landed and went about trying to save people. A 23 man force from Vancouver landed the next morning. Individual citizens in Vancouver and St. John's Newfoundland opened their homes to stranded tourists.
Those things happen in spite of our politicians, not because of them and they prove we are, as it says over the Peace Arch at the most westerly land crossing "Children of a common mother".
Now get rid of Trump and we'll be fine, bored but fine
