If I was living in fairy tale land where just wishing and hoping makes shining stars shoot out the Presidents ass and Unicorns dance around him in a gay jig, I would absolutely super duper wish to my hearts content that the President succeeded in everything he's trying to do.
However, if I'm living in the real world, my honest belief based on my understanding of the facts and history, is that many of the things President Obama is doing are things that will be harmful to this country in the long run if they're enacted or carried out. And as such, absolutely, I want those things...and by relation you could say I want him...to fail. To Fail to be implimented, to fail to stick, to fail to be adopted by the public, and to fail in getting him reelected. I want this not because I hate the President, or hate this country, or want people to be bad off. To make such an argument is to base your OWN argument off of a false premise, a complete strawman, and absolute lie, which would be that I somehow believe that if those things were to succeed in being implimented, embraced, or causing him to be re-elected that it'd be "good" for the country and its people.
Just because somethings successful in getting passed doesn't mean its good for people. Just because somethings embraced doesn't mean its good for the country. Just because it gets someone reelected doesn't mean it was helpful. And just blindly supporting it isn't going to magically make it a great thing.
Let me give you an analogy.
I love the Washington Redskins. I've been cheering for them since I was an extremely young child. I am a passionate and die hard fan. I want to see us win, I want to see us return to prominence, I want a super bowl. However, in the past decade, I've wanted to see Dan Snyder and Vinny Ceratto...our owner and at the time GM respectively...fail. I wanted to see them fail at trading away far to many draft picks for aging veterans. I wanted to see them fail at paying over priced free agents millions of dollars to do jack and squat. I wanted to see them fail at compulsively firing coaches. I wanted to see them fail at disregarding our own talent in favor of the next big thing from somewhere else. I wanted to see them fail at raising ticket costs. I wanted to see them fail at restricting tailgating. I wanted to see them fail at banning signs in the stadium. I wanted to see their regime fail.
Did that mean I hated the Redskins? That I wanted the Redskins to fail or to not win or to do poorly? Absolutely not. I wanted Dan and Vinny to fail at what they were trying to do because what they were trying to do were things I sincerely, deep down, felt were BAD for this team based on facts and history. Simply sitting here hoping and wishing that they did well wasn't going to magically change that fact, wasn't going to magically make signing Fat Albert Haynesworth to a 100 million dollar deal a great thing because I hoped really really really hard. It wouldn't change the fact that firing Marty Schottenheimer after one year was a bad idea because I really really supported Dan Snyder because I'm afraid someone will say I hate the team. Me hoping REALLY REALLY HARD wouldn't change the fact that trading away a Hall of Fame Cornerback for a position that is a dime a dozen (RB) was a retarded thing that would hurt a franchise.
Supporting someone who is doing something you sincerely feel is hurtful to themselves or to those around them, and hoping they're successful at doing those things, is not some grand thing. Would we suggest we should support a Drug Addict who really wants to get high because obviously if we don't hope that they're successful in getting rid of their pain in the short term by doing a cocaine we must hate them.
People "want Obama to Fail" because they feel the things he's trying to do are going to be harmful to this country and "hoping" that they aren't isn't going to magically change that, so they hope he fails at getting them done because the results will be bad.
