I think this says more about Trump than Kanye, but... It is concerning that Kanye is the most likely successor of the Trumpsters base, if he keeps it up. Either way, a great article about Kanye West for anyone truly interested in his motives or dreams.

What Kanye West seeks is what Michael Jackson sought—liberation from the dictates of that we. In his visit with West, the rapper T.I. was stunned to find that West, despite his endorsement of Trump, had never heard of the travel ban. “He don’t know the things that we know because he’s removed himself from society to a point where it don’t reach him,” T.I. said. West calls his struggle the right to be a “free thinker,” and he is, indeed, championing a kind of freedom—a white freedom, freedom without consequence, freedom without criticism, freedom to be proud and ignorant; freedom to profit off a people in one moment and abandon them in the next; a Stand Your Ground freedom, freedom without responsibility, without hard memory; a Monticello without slavery, a Confederate freedom, the freedom of John C. Calhoun, not the freedom of Harriet Tubman, which calls you to risk your own; not the freedom of Nat Turner, which calls you to give even more, but a conqueror’s freedom, freedom of the strong built on antipathy or indifference to the weak, the freedom of rape buttons, ***** grabbers, and **** you anyway, bitch; freedom of oil and invisible wars, the freedom of suburbs drawn with red lines, the white freedom of Calabasas.

This, this captures the American myth beautifully.

It is so hard to honestly discuss the menace without forgetting. It is hard because what happened to America in 2016 has long been happening in America, before there was an America, when the first Carib was bayoneted and the first African delivered up in chains. It is hard to express the depth of the emergency without bowing to the myth of past American unity, when in fact American unity has always been the unity of conquistadors and colonizers—unity premised on Indian killings, land grabs, noble internments, and the gallant General Lee. Here is a country that specializes in defining its own deviancy down so that the criminal, the immoral, and the absurd become the baseline, so that even now, amidst the long tragedy and this lately disaster, the guardians of truth rally to the liar’s flag.

Whoopi was giving Kanye hell today on The View.

Kanye: George Bush doesn't care about black people

Right Wingers: STFU n*****. Know your place, black person.

Kanye: I like Trump.

Right Wingers: Kanye my man! What's up dog! Wanna to hunting and fishing this weekend?

I think you missed the point of the article and that paragraph. It is about what it means to be black and famous, so it really cannot apply to Trump. The most important words in that paragraph come right before the ones you bolded

West calls his struggle the right to be a “free thinker,” and he is, indeed, championing a kind of freedom—a white freedom

Your quote mentions Michael Jackson. The link between MJ and Kanye is MJs well known desire to have lighter skin and a smaller nose, which is seen by many to reflect a desire to be white. By becoming successful, Kanye is now, not only in a position that he can separate himself from the lives of the average black american, but forced to separate. However, like MJ, he cannot stop being black.

The first 3 words of the title are a major clue.

Somehow I think that Mr West is trolling for fame.

The hypocrisy runs deep on both sides.

Kanye: Bush hates black people
Left Wing: Mr West is tapping into youth culture and expressing what many feel

Kanye: Trump is ok
Left Wing: it's obvious Mr West is mentally unhinged everything he says should be ignored.

I see Mr West as a mediocre artist who is know more for his off stage antics than he is for his music. Kanye West the myth is Kanye West the man's worst invention.

He's Calabasas now, like Coates said, he does not even possess the ordinary knowledge of today's policies, which directly affect mere mortals of ALL creeds and colors. He lives in an orbit that can only be described by films like Elysium.

Kanye's striving for a "white freedom", according to the author of this article. I guess it could seem that way to the minorities who perpetually play the victim card. Why would Kanye play the victim though, he's a black man who's become filthy rich, incredibly famous, and married (you can say what you want about her) to a drop dead gorgeous, filthy rich white woman. Maybe Kanye's just a realist and everyone else is mad because they're sitting around making excuses for not being successful while Kanye's actually done it.

Who the hell said that?

I like the title, I think it's great!

I feel the same way...

I am not white, I'm Celticwar17...

No one, other than you, is arguing that Kanye is or is playing the victim. I suspect accusations of playing the victim is your go-to response whenever there is an issue involving black people

Didn't you just prove your point?

The only people who were fans of Kanye that I've met were idiots. Not technically left or right.

Or maybe you are jealous of Kanye. Not everything is a hell-bent racist hit piece. Jeez.

I thought it had been established that Kanye West has serious mental health issues. Why does anyone care what he says?

Why would I be jealous of Kanye, I like what he's doing.

The last sentence from your last post smacks of projection to me. There is literally no one doing that. Therefore that's how I arrived at my conclusion.

and most other country

Only in your dreams, Lovebug, and your relentless propaganda. Most other countries were not/have not been screaming to the heavens what god's give to humanity they are, what kind loving, generous, benevolent saviors of humanity they are.

The really odd thing is y'all know how dishonest this is, how dishonest you are being and still so many of you continue the charade. Look at how y'all whine and bitch and moan when even little things happen to you, then the whining goes on forever.

Three thousand dead is certainly sad; what is 3 million slaughtered by some evil country coming to your lands and doing this?

Yeah, I pointed this out as well. They went from despising him to suddenly liking him. Same thing happened with Beyonce, but in reverse. I remember when she said she voted for Bush because he was a Texas like her, and the right applauded her. Then, she became an Obama supporter...and now they despise everything about her.

I wasn't a fan of Bush at all as president, but I don't see how Kanye can call Bush a racist, yet support a race baiting clown like Trump who has said and done numerous questionable/potentially racist things over the years. I think Kanye is just pissed that Obama called him a jack ass twice, so of course he's going to back Trump, since Trump has made it his #1 goal to bash Obama since he first became a birther back in 2011.
