How to Deal With Your White Guilt

Apparently there is no end to the mileage liberals can get out of white guilt and the threat of reparations! I personally have no guilt since I was born 100 years after slavery ended, and my parents and grandparents were in another country when slavery existed. America is not a commune, we are not even responsible for our parents debts, let alone slavery 200 years ago as practiced by a few Scot Irish southerners. Why not make the descendants of the few white southerners feel guilty and the descendants of the northern opposition feel proud? Why not conclude reparation welfare is likely to be more destructive to blacks than regular welfare entitlements since it is racist and would build upon the crippling affects of regular welfare which, among other things, destroyed love and family in the black community and created the school to prison pipeline.

White as they come and feel Zero guilt, consider people of color to be my brothers and sisters. Be respectful and you will receive it in return. Maybe some here have not truly spent any real time with those that differ from themselves, they might find people really don't differ where it counts. At least in my experience.

Reparations is as dead as impeachment. Neither is going to happen I have no white guilt. Our job now is to fight poverty and to fight racial discrimination. Where ever there is correlation we recognize it. Where ever there is causation, we recognize it. If we are fighting both poverty and racial discrimination, we are providing economic justice and social justice which would be the public policy purpose of reparations anyway. We are just targeting our response to serve specific social and economic aims. If our initiatives fail, we re-calibrate and try again.

White people reneged on the gains of the Civil Rights Movement, just as you reneged on your international obligations, treaties with Native Americans, and your promises to people of color. So keep your programs, we don't want it. In exchange, the US government can just give our money and wealth. We won't need the Voting Rights Act when we can buy power and get into elected office and become the Secretary of State to administer elections; we don't need the Civil Rights Act, when we can buy power and enter the halls of Congress; we won't need Affirmative Action when we can buy power to enter the school of our choosing.

Recently, Ron Haskins of the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank, testified before the House Budget Committee on the growth of the 10-largest “means tested” federal programs that serve people who qualify by various definitions of poverty.


Here’s what Haskins reported: From 1980 to 2011, annual spending on these programs grew from $126 billion to $626 billion (all figures in inflation-adjusted “2011 dollars”); dividing this by the number of people below the government poverty line, spending went from $4,300 per poor person in 1980 to $13,000 in 2011. In 1962, spending per person in poverty was $516.


Haskins’s list includes Medicaid, food stamps (now called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP), the earned-income tax credit (a wage subsidy for some low-income workers), and Pell Grants. There are other, smaller programs dedicated to the poor. A report from the Congressional Research Service estimated the total number at 83; Haskins puts the additional spending on programs below the 10 largest at about $210 billion. The total of all programs for the poor exceeds $800 billion.

To be sure, some spending reflects the effects of the Great Recession. But most doesn’t. As Haskins shows, spending on the poor has increased steadily for decades. Consider food stamps. There are now about 45 million Americans receiving an average of $287 a month in food stamps, up from 26 million in 2007, according to a new Congressional Budget Office report. But the number in 2007, when the economy was healthy, was roughly 50 percent higher than in 2001.

And programs for the poor pale beside middle-class transfers. The giants here are Social Security at $725 billion in 2011 and Medicare at $560 billion. Combine all this spending -- programs for the poor, Social Security and Medicare — and the total is nearly $2.1 trillion. That was about 60 percent of 2011 non-interest federal spending of $3.4 trillion.

Historical notes... In general.... The English settled the New England states. The Scots and Irish ended up with less desirable more southern areas.. Hot, disease ridden... And Georgia began as a colony of folks from England's debtor prisons.

Many of our white supremacists colleagues will balk at this statement but how many oil and coal barons are people of color? How many polluters of our lakes, streams, and wildlands are people of color? The number is vanishingly small. Thus, white people are responsible. Second, if white people want to trash the reputation of the United States just because Obama was elected, then have at it. This is your legacy, not ours. Lastly, we will get our reparations one way or another. How much federal dollars you think are going to the police? Very little. FEMA? No, people of color would be smart and refuse to help rebuild communities that constantly get ruined by natural disasters. Why the hell are we rebuilding Florida, Louisiana, or Texas over and over again when we know many of these areas will be underwater in less than a 100 years? If it were up to me, after 4 or 5 natural disasters in 10 years, that area would be permanently ineligible for FEMA money. Defense? You probably have a point. Most of the solutions being recommended i disagree with but the US has largely reneged on the imperfect solution because white power wanted to come back and recapture its place. This entire administration is the final ****** you to that promise so reparations it will need to be.
