If you are smart, you do what I did, I pre-paid my Q1 and Q2 property taxes now. If you pay it prior to Jan 1. You can save a bunch on your taxes due to the $10k tax limit on property tax deductions.

NY's Governor did an executive order for those in NY to do so.

NJ it was already available.

I don't see this being an issue in the future, at least for me in NJ, as the outgoing and incoming governers want to change the tax laws to make up for the deduction limits by the federalis next year.

Already findin dem loop holes!

Article in our local rag about paying taxes due Jan. 31 next week. Our county will have it available the 27th. Save a little paying county taxes early and my mtge payment 2 weeks early. Anyone around here voting for a national republican is crazy.

I'm gonna start voting a straight GOP ticket, every election; why?

GOP = the party of the rich
GOP = the party that loves to wreck the economy
GOP = the party that loves WARs
GOP = the party that hates women & women's rights
GOP = the party of racists & bigots

what the Hell is not to like here?

Not really, as you are getting thousands back in your return, and the state will fix the property tax issue as well.

So not that crazy if you choose to vote republican.

GOP = the party of the rich

The middle class is getting at least 2k back in thier own money in this tax cut.

GOP = the party that loves to wreck the economy

Stock market in record territory
Consumer confidence at all time highs
Unemployment at 4%
GDP is up to 4%
1.7 Million jobs created.

You call that "wrecking the economy"?

GOP = the party that loves WARs

Obama droned more nations than bush, Obama engaged in wars of choices.

GOP = the party that hates women & women's rights

Given that over 85% of those accused of sex abuse are liberals, you would need to look within.

GOP = the party of racists & bigots

Too stupid to respond to.

what the Hell is not to like here?

Well, I personally don't like how you and your ilk ignore reality for party. Like you I am not a republican, Like you I didn't vote for trump. But the reality is. ****s going pretty well despite your ilks propaganda machine.

I've never had a property tax bill even come close to 10,000 dollars. But I live in Georgia and not NJ. 2/3rds of my property tax is for schools. Yet I don't remember my property tax ever being above 3,000, let alone 10. It's not that I live in a shanty either. A bit more than one acre with a two story brick house, four bedrooms etc.

Now I live out in the country which probably has something to do with it. Around 25 miles south of Atlanta. I have heard horror stories about the high property tax in Atlanta. Perhaps there is something said about being a country bumbkin.

My property tax is close to $36,000 per year.

Greetings, Pero. :2wave:

:lamo  I've never had a $10,000 property tax bill, either, but following up on the recommendations by several tax experts, I called our local property tax people to find out what my bill would be for 2018, since our City is building three new schools, and was told they had no idea, since they hadn't yet been advised what the State portion might be! Since I have a strong hunch it's not likely to be less than I have been paying, all I can do is wait to get the bill, which won't be sent in time for me to pay it before 2018 arrives! :sigh:

I think it's a really amazing coincidence that this part of the tax reform punishes those in states that voted against Trump and that would almost certainly maintain their opposition to Trump under an circumstance.

You'd almost think that all of the Republicans elected from those states would have fought for their constituents and gained some concessions.

As always, you demonstrate the hate filled, divisive approach that Democrats choose on all topics.

They must pave your streets with Gold.

I hope there is outrageous graft and corruption where you live.

I'd hate to think you're governed by idiots.

My property tax for 2017 was due last month. Every November. Since I'm over 65 I don't have to pay the school bond tax or maintenance tax. Here each county determines your property tax. So my tax was just for the county although if younger than 65 you get hit up for the school tax which is usually three or four times the county tax. My total property tax bill for 2017 was $770.61. Now my county also has a 7% sales tax which is divided between the state and county. 4% goes to the state, 3% to the county with the cap on the amount of sales tax capped at 7%. Also the state of Georgia doesn't tax S.S. or any retirement pay if one is over 65. Georgia is very kind to seniors.

When I had to pay the School tax along with the county, my total property tax bill usually ranged between 2,500 and 3,000.

There is, We are.

I love that my state is being forced to reckon with thier abusive tax policies.

Good gawd, I've lived a sheltered life. Typical home around here is $2,000ish. **** I've got ranch clients with $10M+ ranches that pay less than $20k

Our tax bills are due every February, and I hate to think of what mine are going to be with three new schools being built, not to mention all the newest computers etc that they're planning on buying... Aargh!

According to what we're being told, the current schools will not be torn down, but leased to any businesses who are interested in using them. This is what they have done in the past, so that doesn't shock me! Their argument has always been that new revenue will be available for spending, so it's a good idea. Whatever...

Damn kids. :2razz:

Our town just voted to approve a $10M renovation project to our HS... keep in mind we only have about 325 HS students. Needed to be done though as the last major capital expense was done in 1968.

Seems more like the anger should be directed toward state and local politicians for making the tax rates astronomical.

I live in California just part time now, thank god the people got fed up a long time ago and passed Prop 13. Otherwise, my taxes would be like yours.

How exactly are they going to fix the R/E / State Tax issue?
