Hillary Clinton’s Popularity Lower than Trump’s [W:104]

With Obama, his typical detractors could at least say "Obama is a good family man". With Trump ... there's nothing. Can't even say "good father".

You do realize you are essentially admitting that Donald Trump is extremely vulnerable if he runs in 2020, yes? I mean you are admitting that Trump didn't win because of any "policies" (he had none), or because of his "message" (he also didn't have a message), but only because his opponent was slightly more disliked than he was.

It's a a deflection tactic. Trump does it all the time. Whenever things start looking bad for him, he simply brings up Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama (the two Democrats Republican voters despise the most), knowing full well that his idiot voters will focus on anything related to them, while ignoring anything negative regarding their dear leader.

I'm not sure how you look at that chart and somehow come away with the average being her apex heights at 60-65%. The average in that graph is around 50 which has declined significantly since 2015; let's not be disingenuous now.

That said, I do agree that Republican attacks did help depress her favourability, but she's earned a lot of it herself, and it's not like she's a stranger to nadirs of public opinion per the very graph you cited, even before their political machine went into overdrive against her (notably it continues to fall even after she's largely fallen out of the Conservative news cycle on at least a relative basis).

Personally I don't think Hillary is/was uniquely bad; just the typical sort of humdrum, business-as-usual, mundane evil neoliberal/pro-corporate establishment politico Americans have become all too familiar with and have lost their taste for.

The third-way Dem movement needs to take a hint and die quietly.

Yes. I remember while she was secretary of state, polls showed her to be the most admired political figure in the country. She actually won that title for the 20th time- a record for any political figure

Oh, well. This is a democracy, and people get what they want and deserve. Political figures reflect the values and character of their electorate. So America decided they wanted Mr. Trump to represent their character and values. They sure made a statement about themselves, alright. And the world heard it loud and clear.

Ya know how Republicans held their noses and voted for Trump? Ever wonder how many Democrats did the same thing as they voted for the Gorgon? Might be why, much as conservatives want so badly to talk about Hillary they can't find anyone willing to defend her.
The best thing Trumpsters can say about their boy is "He's better than Hillary would have been." and that's pretty much the position Clinton supporters would be in had she won, "Yeah, but she's better than Trump would have been."
Two things come to mind- that's quite a damnation of your electoral system and we know how bad Trump is. Clinton? Will always be supposition.

I know this to be so.

Yet "rightists" are bouncing around pretending that Trump's election means America now believes in what they believe.

Many are claiming Trump is a man of God and a good role model for young people. They're pretzeling themselves trying to pretend that Trump has any virtue other than not being Hillary.

But threads like this show that in their heart of hearts they know that all they still have is "he's not Hillary".

It's impossible to believe how people defend him. Hillary has left the building, the SCOTUS nomination is safe, why pretend Trump is something he's not?
