Trump claimed the economy is “the best it has ever been.” But GDP growth fell to 2.3% last year and economists predict further slowing this year.

He said he brought about low unemployment by reversing “years of economic decay” and “failed economic policies,” when in fact over 1 million more jobs were added in the 35 months before he took office than in the first 35 months since.

The president wrongly said, “After decades of flat and falling incomes, wages are rising fast.” They’ve gone up under Trump, but also have risen under the last several presidents.

Trump claimed that people’s 401(k)s and pensions have increased “60, 70, 80, 90, and 100% and even more.” Some may have, but that’s far higher than the average.

He said “real median household income is now at the highest level ever recorded.” However, the Census Bureau noted that was partly due to a change in survey questions in 2014. Based on “adjusted” figures, median household income was slightly higher in 1999 than in 2018.

Trump claimed the new trade agreement with Canada and Mexico “will create nearly 100,000 … auto jobs.” But an independent federal commission puts the job gains at 28,000 over five years.

The president boasted that “a long, tall, and very powerful wall is being built” along the southern border, and more than 100 miles have been completed. But only one mile is located where no barriers previously existed.

Trump said “illegal crossings” at the southwest border “are down 75% since May.” But total apprehensions in 2019 were 81% higher than in 2016, the year before Trump took office.

Trump compared apples to oranges in claiming a doubling of insurance premiums in five years before he took office and “less expensive” plans under his administration.

The president said he made an “iron-clad” promise to “always protect patients with preexisting conditions,” but that ignores the fact he has supported Republican health plans that would reduce the current protections under the Affordable Care Act.

He suggested, misleadingly, that his administration was responsible for the U.S. becoming the world’s top producer of oil and natural gas. But the U.S. has been No. 1 in the world for natural gas for more than a decade, and tops in petroleum since 2013.

Trump said “300,000 working age people” left the workforce during Obama’s eight years. Actually, the workforce grew by 5.4 million.

I'm sure I'll find more over the course of the day.

Really, a politician exaggerated?

Say it ain't so.

Really, a politician exaggerated?

Say it ain't so.

Particularly Trump, who seems to spin more exaggerations, half truths, and lies than any others.

Here's a video version with additional lies:

Nothing special about my 401K but it has gone up overall under Trump. Up 42% in 2017, down 19% in 2018, and up 28 percent in 2019 which is also about where it is for 2020 to date.

Already sent that **** to the bottom of the birdcage.
All that is the LEFT wing AP putting their spin on Trump 's spin.

Not lies.

Sawwwwwwwwwwwry

Hey where you gonna celebrate the acquittal?

Surrrre, cultist.

If you talk about success rate in terms of percentages or if you talk about real dollars and standard of living makes a difference. The inability to accept the success of the economy is not a smart move by Democrats. Trumps real dollars in pockets is making a huge difference for household income in which it is higher than ever and in a dramatically low unemployment number. Using only the rate of growth as a percentage can be misleading. If you add a million jobs to 100 million current you get 1%, if you add 2 million jobs to 200 million working you still only get 1%. Its' greater growth but depending on how you make you charts and graphs can make one look better and the other not as impressive.
Here's an article that shows some varied examples, comparing the Bush, Obama, Trump economy's success. It's a mixed bag but does show successful aspects of each administration.

Trump boasts the US economy is the best it's ever been under his watch. Here are 9 charts showing how it compares to the Obama and Bush presidencies. | Markets Insider

I know, reality and truth can be uncomfortably painful. Would you like to examine each lie individually with me? I'll be happy to do so; just say the word.

The BS flowed like diarrhea, same thing that happens every time Trump opens his fat trap.

Here Are The Biggest Whoppers From Trump's 2020 State Of The Union | HuffPost

How can someone lie so easily? No, seriously. That is the sign of a demented mind. Trump is sick - I'm convinced of it.

And his loyal drooling fans love it when he lies to them. And he knows it too. They all sit around thinking he's trolling the Democrats. He is - but he's trolling his ignorant fan base too. And has been for years. They're just too clueless to see it.

And Dirtbag demonstrated again how Obama lives in his head. Of course, Dirtbag is obsessed with Obama's success and popularity and therefore has to try to claim credit for everything Obama did. It's how he's run his whole stinking, rotten life--inventing successes he didn't earn.

Oh right - like you have any credibility.

I can't think of a bigger waste of time than hearing from an unhinged TDS lunatic.

But what all of the charts show is that Trump's "success" has been either a continuation of positive trends that began in the Obama administration or in some cases a reversal of those positive trends:

No clear evidence that there's a sustained increase in GDP at this point

Job increases are, if anything, flat since Trump took over. In fact, the number he cited last night of 4.9M jobs in the 36 months he's been in office comes to an average of just 139,000/mo, well below the 150,000 threshold needed to accommodate people entering the workforce.

That last sharp drop suggests that wage growth may have already hit a wall.

Trade balance and deficits have clearly worsened under Trump

I'm sure I'll find more over the course of the day.

Lies are important, yet they leave out so many more wrongs, from bad judgment, to 'reality tv' propaganda manipulation, to unmentioned topics (he didn't lie about the climate or gun violence when he simply said nothing about them). He did a lot wrong, predictably, lies part of that.

Being deep in the bowels of the Cult of Donnie Dirtbag disqualifies you from attacking anyone's credibility and certainly for accusing others of being lunatics.

trumpistanis are excited to receive regular enemas of lies.

It is, almost literally, impossible to document every single TRUMP LIE from last night's SOU Address. He LITERALLY lies almost every 30 seconds.

So, just in terms of Trump's LIES about his record on the ECONOMY, here are a few of the most outrageous:

--What Trump didn’t disclose in his #SOTU is that in terms of hiring, his track record is lagging that of Obama’s last 35 months in office – to the tune of 1.3 mln workers:

1

--And in the key battleground states in the Midwest, Trump's employment record pales in comparison to Obama's:
1

--ANOTHER lie Trump told last night was about the "record growth" of the economy under his watch. In FACT, the rate of growth has been a LITERAL continuation of the growth curve under Obama. And, more recently, growth under Trump has been BELOW that of the last 35 months of the Obama adminstration:

1

--And...ANOTHER HUGE LIE told by Trump last night: Wages over the first 35 months of Trump are DOWN compared to the last 35 months of the Obama presidency. "He promised Americans a tax cut induced windfall, however wage growth under Trump is not only slowing, it is struggling to keep up with inflation":

1

But again, it would require a novel sized article to compile every single lie Trump told last night. Of course, that's part of the Trump strategy.
