Yes and now instead of your wives being able to defend themselves against attackers you civilized types prefer she be raped and murdered instead. Maybe give her some kah rah tay classes? Wow, I feel so lucky to have been born and raised American. I can't imagine being so weak as to give up your right to self defense.

Well, every other civilised nation has done something about them and guess what; firearm-related deaths tanked. And please tell me what 'rights' I have given up? We never had this ridiculous gun fetish of yours and no mass gun ownership either. I guess the US will catch up one day and join the rest of the civilised world.

Don't be ridiculous. How many thousands of dead people a year have your guns protected? We have a right to self defense enshrined in law. We don't need guns to defend ourselves with because there are so few people with guns trying to kill us. Weaklings, on the other hand, do. I'm so glad I live somewhere that doesn't have a mass shooting in the news every week.

Look, if your government decided to turn on you I wonder how your little guns would fare against that Abrams rolling up your street, or the Apache hosing your neighbourhood, or thousands of well-trained soldiers. Your armchair-based, untrained, unorganised weekend warriors wouldn't stand a chance; not even wearing their best camos. It's a pretty fantasy to suggest otherwise.

The fact that you have more guns in circulation than your population would suggest they were next to useless. Your burglar is standing over your bed, pointing a gun at you.
